AFCON 2019 QUALIFIER: Cranes Fail Tanzania Test

Published

AFCON 2019 results:

Uganda 0-0 Tanzania

CRANES fans were left disappointed as French man Sebastien Desabre, who succeeded Micho failed to win his first game in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers 2019.

Desabre went into this game without a win in ten games. It was a cold afternoon at Namboole and even though the Cranes team started brilliantly, Emmanuel Okwi, Farouk Miya and Joseph Ochaya couldn’t take their chances to give the Cranes an advantage.

“We pushed the Taifa Stars but our cutting edge was lacking, hope we can work together as a team next time and win the next game,” Desabre said.

Cranes captain Denis Masinde Onyango kept the Cranes into the game when he made a double save after Genk striker Mbwana Samatta was left unmarked.

The result takes Uganda Cranes to four points while Tanzania now jump to two points. Debutant Moses Waiswa was the man of the match.

His awareness, positioning and passing were excellent and many supporters wondered why such talented footballers are not always given a chance on the national team.

The Vipers skipper was the only local player who started on the team and played 90 minutes.
