Musician, songwriter and Goodlyfe manager Geofrey Kyagambidwa alias Chagga Yaga has taken what he has called a ‘for now decision’ and dumped Goodlyfe singer and music partner to the late Moses Sekibogo alias Radio by joining events management and promotion.

Speaking to the Grapevine, Chagga said that he has started a music promotions company called Big Papa to move on with life as he gives Weasel time to recover from Radio’s Death.

Chagga told us that, “I have tried out everything in the entertainment industry besides events management, that’s the reason why I have taken this bold decision.”

He added that Big Papa will be organising an annual event dubbed the ‘hitmakers’ where all big artistes will perform in a combined single annual show.

“Weasel is free to move on with Bryan White’s podium, let me also try my luck at events management for now,” Chagga concluded.

Pastor Male Panics After Brother Mabirizi Asks Court To Force Family Lawyer To Testify Against Him In Legal Fight For Their Father’s Multibillions Estate…

    Published

    on

City Pastor Solomon Male (L) and his brother lawyer Kassim Male Mabirizi (R)

Controversial City Pastor Solomon Moses Male is panicking after Justice John Eudes Keitirima of the High Court Family Division set a date to deliver a ruling in a matter in which his brother lawyer Kassim Male Mabirizi asked Court to force his lawyer Gabriel Byamugisha to testify against him and other family members in their legal fight for their father’s multibillion Estate.

In his application, Mabirizi insist that Byamugisha has for a longtime been the family lawyer and severally represented their late father Mohamed Bazinduse Lulibedda Mutumba in a number of legal matters and even made statements on record which can be useful and help the Court to reach to a fair justice.

Mabirizi filed evidence in Court showing Byamugisha submitting before Justice Irene Akankwasa in 2014 confirming that Mabirizi is a biological son to his client Mutumba.

“Since the counsel for a Judgment Debtor said that the Judgment Debtor is a biological father of the MD, the Judgment Creditor let a NISC issue instead of a warrant of arrest. Family relationships have to be guarded. NISC for 13th/10/ 2014 at 2:30pm,” Justice Akankwasa’s ruling citing Byamugisha’s submissions read in part.

Mabirizi further cited a number of authorities where a lawyer when found to be a potential witness can recuse himself from the case because lawyers are officers of court who help deliver fair justice.

He provided other evidence including an appointment letter signed by Omuttaka Augustine Kizito Mutumba the head of Kkobe clan assigning Mabirizi as the clan minister in charge of legal, information and special duties in the office of the clan head.

In his letter, he explained that the late Mutumba allowed his appointment after confirming to the clan leaders that he is the biological father of the appointed minister (Mabirizi).

He produced other documents where Mutumba signed as his father noting that the move by pastor Male and a section of family members to sideline him on allegations that he is not a son of their father is intentionally targeting his personality to place him before well thinking members of the society as someone who has no family.

He accused Pastor Male of influencing other family members to turn against him because of their personal grudge.

He added that for a longtime, Pastor Male and a section of family members have been challenging Court orders to subject them to a scientific examination through DNA, noting that their main agenda was to sideline him and make sure that he didn’t benefit from his father’s multibillion Estate.

Late Mutumba left behind a juicy Estate with huge chunks of land in different parts of the country including apartments and rentals in areas of Lubaga Division, Nakawa, Central Division.

Mabirizi alleged that before securing letters of administration to manage the deceased’s estate, the accused persons had already started collecting money from the Estate.

Mabirizi claimed that pastor Male masterminded the forging of their father’s will which he based on to challenge of his sonship to the deceased because he had a personal grudge against him.

Lawyer Mabirizi sued pastor Male together with other family members who include; Sirim Mabirizi Mutumba, Muhamed Mutumba Junior, Faisial Sebatindira Mutumba, Shafik Nsereko Mutumba, Sarah Namala Mutumba, Rehema Nababi Mutumba, Farida Nambalirwa Mutumba Shameem Mutumba and Sophie Nassozi Mutumba.

However, the accused persons through their family lawyer Byamugisha denied all the allegations insisting that the deceased’s will was brought to the attention of family members and friends by the widow who informed them that the deceased is the one who asked him to keep it and produce it after his death.

Byamugisha added that the said will which Mabirizi is challenging was read openly before members of the family and friends and his name was not mentioned anywhere when the deceased was mentioning the children he left behind.

He advised Mabirizi that instead of wasting his time and money in Court, he should look for his family and they settle their score so that life moves on.

How Fallen FDC Strong Woman Eperu Declared MP Ssemujju A Betrayer And Cursed Him To Die A Lame Man…

    Published

    on

MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda (R) and fallen Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) strong woman Sarah Eperu (L)

Flamboyant Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda is panicking over Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) strong woman Sarah Eperu’s declaration in which he cursed him to die a lame.

A months to her death, in her last interview with Ono Bwino weekly Luganda Newspaper, a sister publication to the mighty Grapevine, Eperu revealed that her troubles with Ssemujju started after the 2011 parliamentary elections when she pleaded with him to stop insulting and abusing fellow politicians and senior citizens when they disagree with him on particular issues.

In the interview, Eperu boasted that she is the who led Ssemujju’s first political campaign and helped him to win Kyadondo East parliamentary seat. When the constituency was divided to create Kira Municipality, he decided to dump her.

“Ssemujju is a betrayer, I used my energy and resources to campaign for him, I introduced him to influential people in Kira and surrounding areas because I’m rooted there since I started residing here in Kireka many years ago. However, after becoming an MP, People always came to me to take them to see their legislator after he stopped picking their phone calls. He just abused us and told us to stop asking him for money. But his work is to represent us in parliament not to give us money,” Eperu said.

She added that when she suffered from kidney and cancer diseases, she approached Ssemujju for help but he ignored her and it is the reason why she decided in 2016 to support Eddy Yawe the elder brother to National Unity Platform (NUP) principle Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) and in 2021 she supported Jimmy Lukwago who stood on NUP ticket. Both however were defeated by Ssemujju.

She admitted that even though Ssemujju was an FDC candidate, she decided to support his competitors from other opposition political parties in good faith.

She cursed Ssemujju on the grounds that during the 2021 parliamentary elections, he told his supporters at one of the political rallies that he doesn’t have time to waste on a lame and sick person like Eperu.

“If Ssemujju doesn’t apologize to me for betraying me, I’m not going to forgive him, I have cursed him to also die a lame person like me and I’m sure he will,” a furious Eperu said.

However, Ssemujju rubbished Eperu’s allegation of not helping her when she was sick explaining that when she approached him and told him that she was suffering from kidney and cancer diseases, he mobilized for funds from party leaders which she used to get treatment from India.

He added that even in 2021, he supported her when she was seeking further treatment. He wondered why she did not appreciate his good heart towards her during all the tough times he was going through.

Eperu is remembered as the strong political activist who placed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s government under pressure. She was severally arrested and detained in police custody and remanded to a number of government prisons.

She served in different capacities in the FDC including as; party deputy spokesperson and spokesperson of the party women’s league.

She was a staunch supporter of Dr. Kizza Besigye the founding FDC president and four times presidential candidate.

Because of her importance in his political career, Dr. Besigye canceled his ongoing political consultation to first lead the preparation for Eperu’s burial at her ancestral home in Teso.

Besigye was among the first persons to announce Eperu’s death. She died at Life Link hospital in Kyaliwajjala a Kampala suburb.

In her last interview, she thanked Dr. Besigye for supporting her during all her tough times.

Eperu is not the first to curse Ssemujju; the family of the late Gen. Elly Tumwine were not happy with him after he allegedly celebrated the death of the bush war fighter in 2022.

Top Lawyers, Court Bailiffs Cite Witchcraft After Buyers Shun Tycoon Hamid’s Pearl Of Africa Hotel…

    Published

    on

    Businessman Abdullatif Hamid

For the second time now, city lawyers of MMAKS Advocates and ENS Africa Advocates instructed Armstrong Court Bailiffs and Auctioneers to do fresh advertisement inviting suitable buyers to participate in the auctioning of Aya hotel.

“We shall proceed to sell the property below together with developments thereon by public auction pursuant to a warrant of Attachment and sale issued by the High Court of Uganda (Commercial Division) unless the judgment debtor pays to us the entire outstanding decretal sum (including interest) and our fees and costs before the fall of the hammer at the auction,” the advertisement in today’s daily read in part.

The advert further explains that the property under attachment comprises a 5 Star Hotel situated at an altitude of 1240 meters above sea level making it one of the highest points with a 360 degrees view of Kampala city.

The advert added that the hotel spans 32,000 square meters and comprises 23 floors, 296 rooms, 37 suites, 2 restaurants, 3 bars, 9 meeting rooms, 15th floor executive lounges and a business centre with all top class amenities. The said property is owned by Sudanese national Abdullatif Hamid, the Executive chairperson of Aya Investments Limited.

The property under attachment is in LRV 3556 Folio 9 plots 7A1-9A1 & 10 Lugogo Road and plots M32, M183 & 2E Nakasero Hill Road Kampala measuring approximately 5.975 hectares.

According to the advertisement, the second auctioning is expected to take place on 3rd May 2024 at the bailiff’s offices.

When contacted, one of the lawyers at MMAKS Advocates reveals to theGrapevine that buyers have been inspecting the hotel but have not shown interest in buying it and it’s the reason they have instructed bailiffs to advertise the property for the second time.

“That man must be a witch, I’m telling you, people have been coming but they are not committed to participating in the buying process,” a lawyer said.

According to court documents, between 2007 and 2017, AYA secured Shs305bn from the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), a South African lending company to construct Pearl of Africa Hotel in Kampala and was supposed to pay back the loan within ten years which he defaulted on.

Hamid was dragged to the South African Tribunal and he did not defend himself which resulted in the judge Bruce Collins QC to issue a court order directing him to pay  Shs572bn which he challenged in Uganda Courts but he also lost the legal fight.
