From Witchcraft, Hiring Spies To Betrayal: How Managers Are Drowning Artists’ Careers After Split…

Months back, renowned events’ organizer and promoter Abbey Musinguzi alias Abitex Promotions issued stringent restrictions ordering all media houses to refrain from playing all songs that Serena Bata recorded while under his management.

The songs are; Bikalubye which she jointly recorded with Chris Evans; Single and It’s Okay; Rukundo, which she recorded and sung with Ray G, Ewange which she recorded and sung with Geosteady; Ebisenge which she recorded and sung with Peace Lalisa; Gwantama, which recorded and sung with Nina Rose; Ofunye omusoga, which she jointly sung with Yaled, and Omulala.

Abtex said that the songs in question are all registered with Uganda Services Bureau as the property of Abbey Musinguzi aka Abtex Promotions and thus even forbid her from performing them.

Abtex said: “Serena Bata is free to perform the songs she recorded with her old management, but is prohibited by law from performing any of the aforementioned songs. Any person who will breach this directive shall face the long arm of the law,”

Musinguzi didn’t stop at that; he also hired spies who send him videos of Serena Bata’s performances at different events.

Serena Bata backed by The Uganda Musicians Association and her attorneys KTA Advocates have since contested the restrictions imposed by Abitex and are ready to battle him head on for justice.

However, a credible source to both parties explained to theGrapevine that Abtex does not own any intellectual property rights in singer Serena Bata’s songs. The source explained that the artist only gave his former management permission to use her works to promote her talent.

Serena Bata also accuses Abitex of breaching their contract. She says he failed to pay her rent, took the car he had given her to ease her movements and stopped promoting his music.

He also failed to make full payments as earlier agreed and also failed to declare the revenues from her record sales.

Her accusations have given birth to a bitter fight with Abtex who says that the artist performed at less than 10 shows during his management and he even had to first plead with her to perform on some.

Abtex stated that the house and car he had earlier given to Serena were not bought in her name but were only available if she worked in line with the terms and conditions of the contract.

He said that he is going to give the fight his all so that he puts a stop to Serena’s fraud.

A music manager from one re-known record label who prefers anonymity told theGrapevine that the issue of managers wanting to halt musicians’ careers to the extent of denying them performing rights starts with the contracts they sign.

“It all depends on the contract they had at the beginning. Maybe he (Abtex) owned everything (according to the contract). So you can only speak out when you see what they signed together. It is because of such bad endings that we let artists first see their lawyers and go through the contract over and over so that they come back to sign after understanding every clause. People should also understand that each management has its own terms and the artists are suffering because they failed to understand that one man management is fading out. The world is evolving to record labels however big the artist is, he needs a big team,” he said

Other musicians whose careers have been frustrated by former management include; Lydia Jasmine whose social media and first streaming channels were taken by her first manager producer Bushington.

More than six years later, Irene Ntale is still cursing her former management Swangz Avenue. It is alleged that they frustrated her career by paying radio personalities not to play her songs. She even once alleged that her previous manager was bewitching her.

Another artistes is Fille, the first time she chose to end things with first manager and baby Daddy MC Kats was the beginning of the end of her career.

It is alleged MC Kats frustrated her to the extent of stopping her from performing, deleting her social media and promising to dissolve her career.

Kats told Fille that he had made her the star she had become. Fille’s bitter sweet relationship with Kats gradually drowned her career and it’s really hard to trace her again.

Till date, John Blaq is still figuring out how to attract a bigger following like he had got while he was under Blaq magic entertainment. After splitting from management, he was forced to start over but his career is not as fruitful as it was.

During the early 2000s, Henry Tigan was a force to reckon with but after he fell out with Suudi Lukwago, his career took a bad twist. He alleged that Ssuudi used the media to tarnish his name.  It is said that Suudiman’s curse is still haunting Henry Tigan’s career to date.

Buganda Caucus MPs Blocked From Visiting Kabaka Mutebi In Namibia As Mayiga Summons Clan Heads Over M7 Deals, King Visit…

Buganda Kingdom King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi (L) in Namibia

The management of Okonguarri Psychotherapeutic Center in Namibia has blocked three Members of Parliament from accessing the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.

Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga confirmed that Kabaka Mutebi is in Namibia resting following the advice of his doctor in Europe.

However, there are ongoing allegation that Kabaka is in the said medical facility receiving medication not resting.

Based on the ongoing contradiction, legislators who are members of the Buganda caucus in parliament secretly decided to travel to Namibia to confirm the development.

theGrapevine has exclusively established that the three male legislators are members of the National Unity Platform and they sneaked into Namibia without the knowledge of the Ugandan embassy in Namibia or their chairperson Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi.

When contacted, one of the legislators confirmed the development but pleaded with theGrapevine not to reveal his identity because it was going to create a war with Buganda Kingdom leadership.

“It is true we were blocked from accessing the Kabaka and we are the ones who advised the Buganda Kingdom clan heads who also plan on visitinf the Kabaka to first seek permission from Mayiga, Prince David Kintu Wasajja or Agness Nabalogo because they are the ones to give permission to any person who wants to access Kabaka,” a soft spoken legislator from greater Masaka said.

He added that they tried to reach out to Prince Joseph Ndawula, the Ugandan ambassador to Namibia but he also didn’t help them, so they decided to return back to Uganda.

The development comes at a time when Mayiga has just issued summons to the executive members of Buganda Kingdom clan heads council.

According to highly placed sources in the clan council, the meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday next week at Bulange building the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom.

Even though Mayiga didn’t give the reasons why he has summoned the clan council leadership, sources claim that top on the agenda is their planned visit to Namibia to visit Kabaka and last week’s State House meeting with president Museveni.

“When we passed a resolution in our meeting to go to Namibia to visit Kabaka, our council speaker (omutaka Austine Kizito Mutumba) pleaded with us to reverse the resolution explaining that it was going to place him in bad light before Mayiga and it is going to deepen the misunderstanding between him and his administration, but we rubbished his prayers,” a clan head said.

He boasted that at this time, Mayiga has nothing to do because President Museveni has given them the green light and promised to coordinate the visit.

He revealed that there are only two people who haven’t yet finalized their travel documents because they did not have passports.

“By Thursday morning, we will be on the plane going to check on our beloved chairperson (Kabaka). Who is Mayiga to stop us from visiting Kabaka, even the president told us that he doesn’t like him and his ministers, and in Buganda kingdom, he only recognizes Kabaka, us the abataka and even informed the Nnabagereka when he met her recently,” a clan head said.

It is not clear what mechanism Mayiga and Mutumba are going to deploy to stop clan heads from visiting Kabaka because they have been trying to frustrate them from meeting President Museveni but they overrun them.

In the last Buganda Kingdom parliamentary session, Mayiga declined to allow the prayer made by one of the representative Professor Badru Katerega who wanted the Kingdom administration to guide those with money so that they can be allowed to go and visit Kabaka.

Mutumba told theGrapevine that he is just a speaker of the council of Buganda Kingdom clan heads and has no power to stop them from doing whatever they think is good for their clans and Buganda Kingdom at large.

He confirmed that he was not informed of last week’s State House meeting and he was very happy with the results of the meeting because the President agreed to help the kingdom clan heads to fight poverty among themselves and their grandchildren.

President Museveni also promised to deploy UPDF engineering experts to help in the building of a commercial building on the land he bought for them in 2023 which is situated opposite the Bulange building.

The president also promised to deposit Shs200m in the bataka Mutindo SACCO which they can use to fight poverty.

However, when clan heads visited Museveni in 2023, Mayiga declared that he will not accept any person to mislead any member of the Kingdom organs with the aim of dividing Kabaka’s subjects.

A resolution was passed in Buganda Kingdom parliament condemning the clan heads’ visit to Museveni and they were advised to apologize which they declined to do arguing that Mayiga and the Kingdom parliament don’t have such powers.

The Clan heads insist that they are an independent organ in Buganda kingdom culture and they are the ones responsible for electing the Kabaka, thus they cannot be forced by Mayiga and his people to apologize.

A committee chaired by Kingdom lands minister and also city commercial lawyer David Kisitu Mpanga was established by Mayiga to mediate talks between him with clan heads.

However Isreal Kitooke Kazibwe the Kingdom spokesperson and also the minister in charge of mobilization rubbished the narrative of clan heads being independent explaining that all leadership in Buganda Kingdom are under Kabaka Mutebi and there is not independence.

Shock As Kabaka Mutebi Sidelines Wife Nagginda When Choosing His 3 Next Of Kins, Chief Prosecutor Tasks Mayiga On King’s Gifts…

    Published

    on

The Buganda Kingdom clan heads were shocked to learn that Sylivia Nagginda Luswata the Queen mother of Buganda is not among the individuals Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi chose as his next of kin.

In their planning meeting on the trip to Namibia to meet Kabaka Mutebi, clan heads were advised that before leaving the country, they should first know the people registered as next of kin to Kabaka because they will need their approval to access the king.

Many rubbished their friend who made the said submissions boasting that with the help of Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo the former Buganda Kingdom minister and also the junior minister in charge of technology and information in President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, they cannot fail to access Kabaka.

They claimed that Nabbosa is a close friend to Kabaka Mutebi but also a relative and friend to Nagginda who has the final say on accessing her husband.

The planning meeting was held at Mengo in a place opposite Bulange building the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom. A decision was taken to first consult and confirm that Nagginda is among the next of kin to Kabaka Mutebi.

However, they were shocked that she is not among them.

Their investigations established that Kabaka registered his young brother Prince David Kintu Wasajja, Buganda Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga and his sister Nnaalinya Agnes Nabaloga Lubuga as his next of kin.

One of the clan heads told theGrapevine that last week when they met President Museveni, he promised to facilitate their travel to Namibia where Kabaka Mutebi is allegedly receiving treatment from but advised them to first agree with his immediate family.

Sources said that before the end of this week, clan heads are going to meet clan council speaker and also the Kkobe clan head omutaka Ssalongo Augustine Kizito Mutumba on the way forward, and they are proposing to lead a delegation to go and meet Mayiga over the matter.

Mutumba confirmed to Grapevine that a resolution was passed in their council to send a delegation to Namibia to visit Kabaka so as to check on his health status.

Another clan head told theGrapevine that President Museveni confirmed that he is ready to help them to talk to Namibian authorities so that they have a save passage there.

He divulged that the President however insisted that they should first secure the approval from Kabaka’s immediate family members.

A section of clan heads have started processing their travel documents and are very excited.

“We were told that even Nagginda or Kabaka’s children have to first seek approval from the next of kin to see him. But, I don’t think Mayiga will allow us to access Kabaka in Namibia,” a clan head said.

Kabaka Mutebi, members of the royal family and Mengo administration officials missed Nagginda’s book launch at Sheraton hotel in 2022 sending a big statement of the misunderstanding in the palace.

Since 2019, Kabaka Mutebi has been in and out of hospitals locally and internationally and Mayiga.

On a related development, Buganda Kingdom chief prosecutor and also the clan head of Empeewo omuttaka Nadduli Kibale Mayiga has threatened to storm Mayiga’s office to get an explanation from him on who is eating gifts donated to Kabaka by his subjects.

Nadduli explained that he has been receiving a lot of complaints from people that they are collecting gifts and sending them to Bulange but they don’t know who is eating and benefiting from the gifts because Kabaka is abroad receiving medication.

According to Mubiru Njuuki, a Buganda Kingdom historian, Nadduli culturally is the one responsible for mediating Kabaka when he gets into any misunderstanding with his wives.

Nadduli made the threatening statement in a meeting with Church of Uganda Bishops led by the Archbishop of the church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu at his home in Wakiso district.

    Gen. Salim Saleh

It has been revealed that several emergency meetings were summoned by people termed as mafias strategizing on their next move after a strange disease attack celebrated 1986 war veteran and also President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s most trusted and beloved brother Gen. Salim Saleh.

Joseph Tamale Mirundi, a long term friend of Gen. Saleh and also the Senior presidential advisor in charge of the media, confirmed the development.

“When I saw people I know as mafias fighting to take over power after President Museveni’s government panicked, I got scared and I picked interest to establish what was going on because I know them, they can overthrow the government without our knowledge,” Mirundi said.

He added that his sources in the corridors of power informed him that they were panicking because they want to use the opportunity of Gen. Saleh’s sickness to steal his money.

He claimed that in one of the meetings, they were planning on how to access the bag where Saleh kept billions of money in cash.

Mirundi revealed that with immediate effect, he contacted Gen. Saleh’s assistants to confirm what was told to him and they confirmed that the General is sick.

“I pray for his quick recovery, you know our people thought that big people like Gen. Saleh I don’t get sick, we also get sick because we are human beings, but my brother Gen Saleh is recovering,” Mirundi said.

He said that after the Mafia’s failed to steal Gen Saleh’s money, they are now spreading malicious propaganda that he mismanaged the money given to him through the Operation Wealth Creation.

Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda noted that Gen. Saleh is the next powerful person in the country after president Museveni and it is the reason why whoever is given a top government job, they first seek appointment with Gen. Saleh to appreciate and confirm that he or she will follow his instructions.

This is not the first time the General is falling sick. Recently, he got very ill that bad people announced him dead.

According to late Lt. Gen. Pecos Kutesa’s book, ‘Uganda’s Revolution 1979-1986 How I saw it’, he explains how Gen Saleh survived the Bukalambi battle against the Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) in 1982 during the NRA rebel war.

He describes Gen. Saleh as a loving commander noting that fighters always wanted him to command the operation against the enemy because under his command, they won.
