The outgoing minister for East African Affairs Rtd Maj Gen Kahinda has attacked his 1986 Liberation war comrade General Edward Kale Kayihura on praising God for protection over guns.

Speaking to Buganda’s CBS radio, Gen Otafiire insisted that he cannot be taken by Gen Kayihura’s narrative that God is everything when it comes to protection because he is the same God who again protects the killers.

“Don’t tell me those things, it’s the same God who protected those Katumba assailants and saved them from being shot dead by his bodyguard. So as for me, don’t tell me those Kayihura things concerning God because he is the same God protecting both bad and good people,” furious Otafiire expressed.

Last week when he was attending the burial of his grandmother, the late Ancila Bucyana Ruhimbi, Gen Kayihura revealed that God is more ultimate than any amount of guns when it comes to a source of protection for anyone. He added that when president Yoweri Museveni fired him from the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), many of his friends deserted him and only remained with God and his lawyers from Kampala Associated Advocates(KAA) led by counsel Elson Karuhanga who represent him for free in the Makindye based Court martial he is still battling with treason related charges.

Gen Kayihura insists that he is still a strong cadre of the UPDF and a supporter of president Museveni and never thinks of betraying him. However when Gen Otafiire was asked as a General what motivated assailants to attack loving outgoing works minister General Edward Katumba Wamala on Tuesday at Kisasi where his daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and driver Sgt Haruna Kayondo were killed, Gen Otafiire said that he is also still puzzled with the motive behind the attack because Gen Katumba because he doesn’t have any quarrel with anybody.

“He doesn’t fight with people and doesn’t go to bars. He added that the only person he knows who recently had problem with Gen Katumba was the youthful Mityana Municipality legislator Francis Zaake Butebi who he believe doesn’t have the capacity to command the assassination against the soft spoken army General.

He however declined commit himself that Gen Katumba’s assailants were from the hostile neighbouring country as president Museveni stated in the recent address to the nation after the 2021 general elections.

“If you say it’s what the President said sometime back, that’s your business. I don’t know I’m not President and I’m not even a Minister anymore. I can’t pin a neighbouring country when I don’t have any evidence,” he said.

He predicted that the attackers might be those powerful people fearing that Gen Katumba might be appointed in the coming cabinet as a Vice president or a Prime Minister. Gen Otafiire insisted that as UPDF Generals they are not scared about what happens to Gen Katumba because they know very well that anytime they can die from anywhere.

When asked about the ten point president Museveni presented to the nation to solve the frequent assassination of the top government officials and what happened to it, Gen Otafiire advised CBS senior Investigative journalist Alex Nsubuga to go and ask Museveni himself because for him he is nolonger in his government and he is only preparing to serve in the coming Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s government not that of Yoweri Museveni.

He trashed statements made by security expert David Pulkol, the former Director of External security Organisation(ESO) and Charles Rwomushana the former head of intelligence at State House that the country’s security is very bad. The flamboyant Gen laughed loudly that both claimed security experts don’t have authority to speak on the country’s security because they know nothing.

I Will Bewitch You! M7’s Advisor Warns UCC Boss After Regulatory Body Gave Green Light To M7’s Son-In Law Rwabwogo To Sue Media Houses Mirundi Has Been Using To Defame Him….

Tamale Mirundi (R) has threatened UCC boss Irene Ssewankambo (C) for ruling on favour of Rwabwogo (L)

The ongoing verbal war between senior presidential advisor on media Joseph Tamale Mirundi and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s son-in-law, who also doubles as the special presidential advisor, Odrek Rwabwogo has taken a new twist.

In a Ruling signed by Irene Kaggwa Ssewankambo, the Acting Executive Director Uganda Communication Commission (UCC), media houses; STV, ABS TV, Radio 4, Pearl FM, Kasuku Live, HG TV were convicted of breach of the minimum media broadcasters’ standards especially Section 31 of the Uganda Communications Act 2013.

The media regulatory body states that without reasonable cause, the convicted allowed Mirundi to make false and bias statements against Rwabwogo accusing him of engaging in human trafficking, illegal human organ business and embezzlement of tax payers money using his position as a son-in-law to a sitting president.

The Commission insisted that it was wrong for the convicts to deny Rwobwogo a chance to defend himself on these allegation noting that disclaimers have no meaning in as far as protecting the people who are using the media houses to breach the laws is concerned.

The media houses were directed to pay a fine of $520 and $260 for each of the offences they have been convicted of.

The commission further directed that Kasuku Live, a YouTube channel which has been allegedly giving Mirundi platform to defame, be closed with immediate effect.

On the ground of giving the complainant Shs.5bn in damages, the commission stated that it lacks the powers to award such an amount and advised the complainant to petition the Courts of law and seek for such remedies.

In March 2022, Rwabogo and activists under the disciples of Rwabogo petitioned UCC accusing the defendants of helping in spreading false information against them.

The convicts were given opportunity to defend themselves but they lost.

However, last week, while on Pearl FM, Mirundi boasted and threatened to deal with Ssewankambo together with her Godfathers in top government offices who provide security and other benefits to her through witchcraft.

Mirundi insisted that Ssewakambo should know that she is not the first person they have used to fight him. He bragged that he has a clean record of defeating his enemies.

Tabliq Muslim Community Petition Gen. Saleh Over Mufti Mubajje’s Closure Of William Street Mosque …

    William Street Mosque

The Muslim Tabliq sect have petitioned President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s young brother Gen. Salim Saleh over Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubajje’s closure of William Street Mosque in Kampala.

Led by sheikh Fahad Kalungi, the tabliq community accuses Sheikh Mubajje of using state organs like police and army to threaten them and stop them from accessing the mosque for over 3 years.

Sheikh Kalungi confirmed to theGrapevine that they met Gen. Saleh who promised to intervene in their matter.

Saleh also promised that the policemen who were deployed at the mosque will be removed.

Sheikh Yunus Muhammad Kamoga, the leader of the Tabliq community in Uganda told theGrapevine that the mosque was closed when he was in prison battling terrorism and murder charges which were dismissed by the Court of Appeal.

He said that when he was released, he tried to talk to Sheikh Mubajje to get an explanation from him on why the mosque was closed and how it could be opened.

The mosque leadership now is currently under the leadership of Mufti Mubajje and sources allege that he is the one collecting money from shops renting on the mosque land.

In 2016, President Museveni rescued William Street Mosque land title from city tycoon Drake Lubega who had bought it from Mubajje’s leadership by compensating him with a lot of money.

The Tabliq community protested the transaction and denied tycoon Lubega possession of the mosque claiming that the transaction was illegally executed.

Efforts to talk to Sheikh Mubajje were futile because he was not picking our phone calls.
