How Gen. Saleh, Capt. Mike Mukula’s Undercover Mobilization Skills Forced Former Leader of Opposition Winnie Kiiza Out Of Kasese Politics…

L-R: Gen Saleh, Winnie Kizza and Capt. Mukula

On Tuesday afternoon, the country was shocked with the announcement from fearless Kasese district woman Member of Parliament Winnie Kiiza that she had retired from elective politics.

In her statement, Kiiza stated that for the 23 years she has been in politics serving her country in different political offices, she is contented with what she has done.

General Mugisha Muntu, the former President of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) who is now in Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) appointed her as the Leader of Opposition in Parliament.

A number of political commentators gave their opinion on what they think caused Kiiza’s decision to exit elective politics.

Betty Nambooze, the Mukono Municipality legislator boasted that as a well-trained investigative journalist, she smells a rotten rat in Kiiza’s resignation especially at this time when the country is preparing for the general election in 2021.

Charles Rwomushana, a presidential aspirant and a political analyst said that Kiiza’s exit might have been fueled by the political turmoil in Kasese and the stormy internal politics in FDC party.

Rwomushana added that Kizza is not in good books with Patrick Amuriat’s leadership at Najjanakumbi.

However, close friends to Kiiza who are conversant with politics in Kasese have told theGrapevine that their friend held lengthy consultations with various stakeholders before deciding to quit.

Kiiza’s friends revealed that she calculated and discovered that she will face an uphill task winning the over 30 aspirants who want her seat given that National Resistance Movement (NRM) popularity is also growing in the area.

A credible source within Kiiza’s camp revealed that NRM has seriously penetrated the area since the 2016 elections.

Others disclosed that FDC in Kasese is sharply divided with many seeing Kiiza as a traitor for dumping Besigye and crossing over to Muntu’s ANT.

Political analysts told this website that immediately after the 2016 General elections and the attack on the palace of Charles Wesley Mumbere, the king of Rwezururu, President Yoweri Museveni dispatched Captain Mike Mukula the party Vice Chairperson Eastern Region to handle the hot Kasese politics.

Source told us that Museveni was very happy with the way Mukula successfully put former Leader of Opposition and veteran celebrated journalist Wafula Oguttu out of action politically.

Mukula was very instrumental in helping Solomon Silwanyi who overwhelmingly defeated Oguttu in Bukoolo Central.

Sources added that Museveni was also very happy with Mukula’s zeal when he politically neutralized Ogenga Latigo also a former Leader of Opposition in the 8th parliament.

Sources explained that Museveni also based on the friendly relationship between Mukula and Lt. Col. Charles Kamya, the Omudinga wa Obundingiya bwa Bamba.

There has been bad blood between Mumbere and Omudinga which led to loss of lives in their tribal fight in 2016.

Mukula was instrumental in making sure that the two tribal leaders unite.

It was established by this website that Mukula is respected in Rwenzori region because of his fight to restore peace in the region after doing a lot of undercover mobilization for his party which threatened Kiiza’s political future.

On Monday, Mukula welcomed hundreds of opposition mobilizers from greater Rwenzori region who defected to NRM from different political parties and pressure groups at the party headquarters on Kyadondo road Kampala.

To help Mukula, Museveni also assigned his brother Gen. Salim Saleh to clean his name and the NRM image in Kasese.

Gen Saleh through Operation Wealth Creation injected billions in Kasese for investment and structural development.

Credible sources told this website that, Gen. Saleh and Mukula have been meeting a number Kasese mobilizers to see how NRM can sweep the region in the coming general elections.

MUKULA TEAM TURN GUNS TO KAMPALA

Steven Kabuleta, the NRM deputy chairperson Nakawa Division exclusively told this website that they are preparing to unveil a number of strong supporters from FDC and People Power.

He stated that they were thinking of unveiling them at once but because of the COVID19 pandemic they will unveil them in small numbers.

“I thank Captain Mukula for the tactics he taught us on how to convince other people to join our party. By the close of this week, you will see another team of big fish from other parties join us,” Kabuleta said.

When contacted, Mukula admitted that he has been receiving a lot of phone calls from different opposition members who want to join NRM.

Mukula added that most of those people are coming from Kampala and Busoga regions.

“Our mobilizers on the ground are doing a commendable job to ensure that in the remaining months to the elections, the party gets more new members on top of maintaining the old ones,” Mukula explained.

When asked about the claims that General Mugisha Muntu’s ANT is a division of NRM, Mukula rubbished the allegations saying that both parties have different political ideologies, he blamed FDC for being behind the rumours.

These Meal Card Seekers Are Not Interested In Removing M7, But Only After Preserving Their Political Positions – Social Media Critic Narrates How 17 MPs Had To Take Bobi Wine’s Bait…

Published

Some of the MPs who crossed to NUP

Social media critic Tom Voltaire Okwalinga has narrated how Democratic Party (DP) members especially those from DP Block had to swallow Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s bait and join his National Unity Platform (NUP) party.

In a post on his page, Okwalinga notes that, “The country of Uganda is dead as far as political dispensation is concerned. Uganda was on the verge of collapse and total political death, and the coming of Bobi Wine and his people power on the scene accelerated the demise of the pearl of Africa. Bobi Wine has proved that he is a shrewd human being, who like M7, would go to any length to achieve his personal goals, disregarding the consequences that his actions may have on the general population of Uganda.”

He adds, “His latest episode was to carry out a successful blackmail mission, in which many politicians in Buganda fell victim to this device and ended up in political quandary, out of which Bobi Wine emerged from the shadows to claim he coulfd save them from.”

“The major victims of the Bobi Wine blackmail machinery are politicians from the DP in Buganda plus a few individuals from the FDC party in the same region. The message was clear without uttering it loud: “You either join my group, or I deploy my people power boys to stand against you and you will stand no chance” This bloodless political coup to swallow and destroy the DP  worked perfectly well, and as we all know Ugandan politicians are only after retaining their seats, the DP politicians had to take the Kyagulanyi bait and they are flowing to him in hundreds.”

He says, “In this foul game that is devoid of commitment or loyalty, but is rather based on pursuit of individual gains, the defecting members  gain by avoiding to have Kyagulanyi boys contest against them, while Kyagulanyi himself gaind a political clout of starting a political party, and in its infacy swallows among others a 64 year old political establishment, DP.”

“The question that remains is whether these young Kyagulanyi boys, most of whom had positioned themselves to contest for these positions around Buganda, will accept this arrangement that shuts them out, or if they will rebel against the NUP and front themselves as independents. Are we about to see an explosion of dissent shortly after their primaries are concluded? Are the DP members of regions like Acholi going to see the defection of Baganda DP members to Kyagulanyio as a tribal detest against their son Mao and vote for other parties like FDC and NRM in protest? All in all, this trend has shown that the politicians in Uganda are about securing meal card to positions of power with total disregard of how the public views them and their reputation.”

He adds, “It is for this very reason I understand that Dr. Besigye has refused to offer himself for yet another Museveni organized election, for he found it was going to be impossible to organize these meal card seekers to eject M7 before the sham election is held. These people are not interested in removing Museveni, but only after preserving their political positions , and nobody is ready to make sacrifice, that brings liberation to the entire population, the liberation is for their pockets.”

INSIDE NRM CEC VETTING: Why Top Party Officials Want To Drop Hajji Nadduli, Babu, Hajji Lukenge And Mafumo…

L-R: President Museveni, Capt. Babu and Hajji Nadduli

Multiple credible sources who attended the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Central Executive Committee (CEC) vetting meeting have told theGrapevine that controversial senior presidential adviser Hajji Abdul Nadduli, presidential adviser Hajji Asimwe Lukenge and Kefa Mafumo are set to be dropped from contesting to become members of the top party organ.

This website has established from sources that in a vetting meeting that took place at State House Entebbe on Tuesday, where some of the members were following proceedings via zoom, the three failed to convince other CEC members and President Yoweri Museveni who also doubles as the chairperson of the party that they have something to add on the ruling party, even though other sources we talked to cited legal issues.

One of the sources revealed that all candidates were given between four to eight minutes to present their case before the party top members and many of them resorted to praising their chairperson instead of campaigning and telling the committee what they are going to do for the party.

Hajji Nadduli for a long time has been representing Buganda region on CEC, Mafumo, who works in the State House political wing wanted to become the next CEC member representing Eastern Uganda to replace Captain George Mike Mukula. Hajji Lukenge who wanted to be the next National vice chairperson of the party replacing Hajji Moses Kigongo also failed to convince the committee.

When contacted on the matter, honorable Emmanuel Dombo Lumala, NRM’s Director of Communication and Information confirmed the development but noted that it’s not yet official that Naduli and others were dropped because they are still making consultations.

“The chairperson of the party is still consulting and he has written to the Attorney General for legal advice. He will be the one to come up with the final decision which will be announced publicly by the Secretary General of the party,” Dombo stated.

He explained that the reason why Nadduli was rejected was because he is still a public servant.

However, this website has also established that one of the party lawyers Kiryowa Kiwanuka reasoned during the vetting that it’s illegal for someone to stand in partisan politics when he or she is still a public servant.

Kiwanuka’s reasoning didn’t augur well with most of the candidates who are still public servants and it’s the reason why the chairperson decided to seek guidance from the Attorney General.

In the same development, theGrapevine has also established that Museveni pleaded with Captain Babu to leave Hajji Kigongo to continue serving as the party Vice Chairperson.

When asked on this matter, Dombo said that in his capacity as the chairperson, the President can talk to his members and persuade them on anything that is good for the party.

“He cannot announce in public that someone should leave the race for another, that’s not democracy but he can find ways to talk to his members as the chairperson and I think that’s what he is doing now,” Dombo noted.

Efforts to speak to Captain Babu were futile since he was not picking our calls.

However, last week, he told theGrapevine that he is not willing to leave the race in favor of Hajji Kigongo. He also rubbished claims that he has a personal vedanta with Hajji Kigongo since he snatched his wife in late 1980’s.

“This is not personal, it’s about our party NRM, I wanted to bring back our previous glory by removing leaders who add nothing to its development,” Babu said. The party’s scientific delegate’s conference is stated to take place between 18th and 20th of this month.
