    How To Follow The Game: Uganda Cranes Seek Devine Intervention To Overcome Traore’s Burkina Faso. Who Will Start For Cranes? Aucho, McKinstry Talked To The Boys…

    The Uganda Cranes Team praying after their last training at the St Mary's Stadium, Kitende ahead of today's tricky fixture against Burkina Faso. Uganda must win to keep their hopes alive.

    Uganda Cranes will play one of its two crucial AFCON qualifier matches arranged in one week against Burkina Faso today, before going away to Malawi on Monday 29th.

    Uganda will host Burkina Faso at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende at 4:00pm. The game will be aired live on UBC TV, FUFA has confirmed.

    The Cranes are 2nd in Group B with 7 points one below leaders Burkina Faso with Malawi and South Sudan collecting 4 and 3 points respectively in four matches.

    Uganda has to therefore win this particular fixture to be certain of any chances to qualify for the next AFCON competitions.

    All the summoned players are present except 3 of them for various reasons. Midfielder Khalid Aucho was dismissed for misconduct, Yeovil Town towering defender, Bevis Mugabi was ruled out late with an injury and striker Uchechukwu Mubiru Ikpeazu who plies his trade with English side Wycombe Wanderers requested to be omitted from the squad. Speedy forward Abdu Lumala is present but worryingly not a hundred percent fit and could miss out.

    Unity Prevails: It’s Bussiness As Usual For Coach Mubiru;

    Even after his shocking dismissal, Aucho said he accepted FUFA’s “harsh” decision on him and will take it in good faith.

    “I love my county and I wish the team good luck in the next two very important games,” he said.

    In a direct message to the Uganda Cranes today, Khalid Aucho wrote; “I wish you good luck in today’s game my brothers my country just finish the job make our country proud may Allah bless you guys in  today’s game.”

    Suspended head coach, Johnathan McKinstry had this to say;

    “After 16 months of hard work & dedication we have reached the final challenge in pursuit of #AFCON2021 qualification.”

    “Having already secured important pts home & away, we now must finish the job starting with Burkina Faso today as we look to maintain our 100% home record,” he added.

    Cranes current head coach, Abdallah Mubiru affirmed that there’s no panic whatsoever in the Cranes camp.

    “We have no pressure at all. The only difference this time round is because it’s a local coach taking full charge but like the last attempt, I can assure you we are going to the AFCON,” Mubiru confidently stated before adding;

    “I have worked with most of these players right from school, and their junior levels of playing the game. I have ideally been part of their journey, it’s very easy for me to work with each one of them. And for the senior players, they already know what we’re upto,” Mubiru said.

    “For me it’s bussiness as usual. The team I’m working with is highly experienced, Mbabazi, Massa, Kajoba and the whole technical team is of great positivity to our aim. They’re all very cooperative,” he added.

    Team News;

    The coaches will have to choose from the available 29 players to face a stubborn Burkina Faso side with alot of quality at their disposal.

    Unless otherwise, but team captain Onyango will surely start in goal, Murushid Juuko will expectedly be paired with another centre back at the heart of defence. Michael Azira and Taddeo Lwanga are favorites to start in the middle of the park. Farouk Miya and Emmanuel Okwi will most probably be employed upfront, and tireless worker Patrick Kaddu might lead the line.
