If You MPs Who Earn Well Feel Pressed By Tough Economic Conditions, Why Should You Press The Common Person With High Taxes/Burdens? – Bobi Wine Blasts Fellow MPs For Raising Their Pay

Published

on

Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine has blasted fellow legislators for increasing their allowances when Ugandans who pay them are struggling with heavy tax burdens.

According to media reports, Members of Parliament increased their allowances by 39 per cent and that of parliamentary staff by 15 per cent, citing rising costs of living.

Each of the 459 legislators earns between Shs15m to Shs30m every month, depending on how far their constituency is from Parliament Building in Kampala, the seat of their legislative business.

Monitor investigations show that the new allowances will cost taxpayers an additional Shs63.46b in the 2019/20 budget, increasing the House budget from the current Shs497.8b to Shs561.3b. The MPs also raised their inland and overseas travel allowances, and are demanding an additional Shs20.4b for committee oversight and bench-marking trips.

“Today, I read the news about this action by some colleague Members of Parliament with great disdain. The reason given for the raise is that the cost of living in Uganda is very high.

I find it VERY WRONG that my colleagues would think of themselves and not the many ordinary Ugandans who work so hard and yet earn so little amidst the tough economic conditions. If the MPs who earn well can claim to feel pressed by tough economic conditions, why should they press the common person with very high taxes and other burdens?

Our call has been that there is fairness in all aspects of public service including payments for public servants- teachers, health workers, police officers and soldiers, etc. It will be recalled that in 1997, President Museveni said that “It is criminal for Members of Parliament to earn Shs4 million when the Primary teacher is earning Shs70,000 per month.” What a sad irony to see the current state of affairs!

This particular presentation was made while I was under house arrest, but even if I and other like minded MPs were in the House, these things would still pass because as we all know, the NRM has a large majority in the House and can therefore pass anything in that Parliament. That is why I always say that it has been turned into a talk show. Our struggle therefore includes ensuring that we get leaders who care for the people and not just about themselves. Banange, tulina okwebelelamu. Our problems will end when we realise that politics is such a serious business to be left to politicians!” Bobi posted on his Facebook page.

Government Officials Are Stealing Ugandans “Taamu Egenda” – Bobi Wine Responds To Bank Of Uganda Saga

Published

on

Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine has warned Ugandans to be careful because government officials are stealing everything “Taamu Egenda” style.
In a post on his Facebook page, the People Power movement boss says that government officials are using their political power to receive kickbacks, bribes, and special favors at the expense of the population.
Below is his post verbatim:

DICTIONARY:
Kleptocracy is a government with corrupt leaders (kleptocrats) who use their power to exploit the people and natural resources of their own territory in order to extend their personal wealth and political powers. It is rule by a class of thieves. This system involves embezzlement of funds at the expense of the wider population. A kleptocracy is a government ruled by corrupt politicians who use their political power to receive kickbacks, bribes, and special favors at the expense of the population. Kleptocrats may use political leverage to pass laws that enrich them and they usually circumvent the rule of law.
NEWS TODAY:
As the vast majority of Ugandan citizens continue to struggle to even afford a decent meal and as poverty levels continue to rise, Bank of Uganda officials printed 90 billion shillings in excess and took it out of Entebbe airport for their personal use.
VERDICT:
After 33 years in power, it is now an understatement to call president Museveni’s government a mere dictatorship. It graduated from that stage a long time ago and is now a fully grown kleptocracy. Like it was in Zaire under Mobutu, government officials are stealing with reckless abandon- ‘taamu egenda’ style! Of course they have learnt from the best- the very head of state who treats the national treasury as his personal property! This is the real state of our nation. Oh Uganda, may God uphold thee!

You Cannot Exchange The Current Regime With Hooligans – MP Nsereko Blast Bobi Wine’s People Power

Published

on

Kampala Central Member of Parliament (MP) Muhammad Nsereko has branded People Power movement members as hooligans over the way they attack anyone who tries to show them the right path to leadership.

In a heated live chat with music promotor Andrew Bajjo alias Bajjo event, a strong People Power supporter, Nsereko schooled him and all People Power supporters that what Ugandans want right now is a united opposition not one individual.

First, Bajjo revealed that he has spent a week in Kamuli district and established that people are tired of Kadaga because she has over stayed in parliament and failed to change their living conditions.

“Nsereko, I can bet my hand to be chopped off if Kadaga returns to parliament. People in Kamuli are tired of that old woman, they want new blood. I was there recently, people of kamuli are very poor. They cannot even afford to get 4000 shillings to enter a musical show.

I swear Kadaga will not cross that Jinja bridge because people are tired,” the music promotor stated.

He boasted that as People Power movement, they are planning to solve the Kamuli problem by bringing a youthful Moses Bigirwa (DP) to replace Kadaga.

MP Nsereko immediately intervened and educated Bajjo that Bigirwa can’t replace Kadaga in Kamuli because he is not a woman. Nsereko also swore that Kadaga will retain her sit. The outspoken Bajjo boasted that the country is tired of politicians like MP Nsereko who survive on confusion and mismanaging of public affairs and it’s the reason they are yearning for fresh blood like Kyadondo East MP Robert Kaygulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi wine.

Bajjo said that he speaks for the poor Ugandans who cannot afford paying school fees of 20,000 (twenty thousand shillings).

He pleaded with Nsereko to join people power camp instead of undermining MP Kyagulanyi because of his background. Bajjo also wondered why Nsereko from Kkobe clan and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago are fighting Kyagulanyi and supporting Kizza Besigye who he claims is a Museveni project to keep him in power. MP Nsereko rubbished Bajjo’s claims and educated him that leaders are trained, tested and supervised.

He told Bajjo and the people power group must understand what is on the ground and what can help them take power instead of fighting the people they have found in the struggle for change.

“People are asking the opposition to come together, we are not promoting that kind of individualism you want to promote,” MP Nsereko said. He told Bajjo to go and tell his friends in People Power to accept that they need other people to change Uganda’s political situation and that they must accept the debate to choose the person to be fronted for presidency in the next general election.

The Kampala central legislator said that there’s no way you can exchange the current regime with hooligans adding that whoever speaks truth about Bobi Wine becomes a victim of insults and abuses.

“As people in power, I strongly believe that the future of Uganda’s opposition has been buried never to resurrect,” Nsereko added.

He said that he has on several occasions been engaged in a verbal exchange with people power diehards who claim that he is working for president Museveni and they have already chosen Kyagulanyi’s brother Fred Nyanzi to replace him as a MP for Kampala central.

There Are Two Governments Controlling Uganda, Museveni Fears The Inner Government because They Can Overthrow Him – Mirundi Reveals

Published

on

President Museveni’s adviser on media Joseph Tamale Mirundi has revealed that there are two governments controlling Uganda’s state affairs.

Mirundi,  who was responding to Buganda King Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II’s remarks of failing to accord Masaka Municipality city status  said that the Kabaka’s statement was a sign that Buganda MPs are sleeping and they are not helping Buganda kingdom to develop.

“You know these mafias in government think that in denying Masaka city status, they were humiliating vice president Kiwanuka Ssekandi, but they were even creating trouble for president Museveni in the upcoming general election. Now the Kabaka is asking you Ruth Nakabirwa who sat on the sharing table, how are you helping Buganda.  Now those Buganda caucus MPs are panicking,” Mirundi said.

He boasted that if he was the one behind such a project, he would have used a political criterion and dropped other factors because how can one deny all Buganda municipalities city status and promote others. He argued that the president is likely to lose out in Buganda in the next general election.

He added that, “It’s here in Buganda where fishermen are being killed on the lake by the army, now you are denying them city status, Museveni will find it hard campaigning in these areas because people know that he is the one behind all those atrocities.”

Mirundi revealed that the problem with Museveni’s government is that there are two governments both formidable and Museveni fears the mafias in government who he can’t control because when he tries to discipline them, they will overthrow his government. Mirundi said that the inner government within Museveni’s government are very deadly and sometimes force Museveni to follow their orders and whoever tries to stand in their way he or she has to face it.

Mirundi mentioned the causalities of the inner Museveni’s government. He said they include former Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Jennifer Musisi, Inspector General of Government (IGG) justice Irene Mulyagonja, fired Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen Kale Kayihura, land probe boss justice Catherine Bamugemereire and himself. The Kalagala born political analyst revealsed that the inner government within Museveni’s government are very malicious and they destroy everyone who tries to worker for the interests of Museveni because they are after nothing else but Money.

He warned that because Museveni fears them, it’s the reason he is forced to humiliate in public people who try to work for his interest. He predicted that it will be the next government to punish them miserably because Museveni fears them.

Mirundi advised the victims of Museveni’s inner government to leave government and go and do other things like he did because if they decided to work with mafias in the inner government they will also be punished in the next government. He said that mafias are using money to control everything including the next government after the downfall of Museveni’s government. Mirundi said this while appearing on the famous one on one with Tamale Mirundi on NBS TV.

During his official tour of Buddu county, the Kabaka expressed his dissatisfaction at how Masaka municipality failed to pass the city status mark. The King said that it was unfair to leave out Masaka, he promised to hire city experts to analyze the factors that are hindering Masaka municipality from becoming a city and why it was left behind.
