Inside Chaka Chaka Deportation: She Shouted At Police Officers Who Were Trying To Tell Her To Follow The Law And Demanded To Be Escorted To The Airport, Bobi Wine Supporters Should Stop Spinning The Story – Mwenda

Published

on

Journalist Andrew Mwenda has told People Power supporters to stop spinning the Chaka Chaka story.

In a post on his page, Mwenda said that he talked to Fox Odoi who gave him a detailed blow by blow account of what happened yesterday.

“Fox Odoi has given us the most actual account of what happened to Chaka Chaka. Attempts by some people to add the Bobi Wine spin on this story are both wrong and misguided. First let us let the facts speak for themselves,” Mwenda said.

Below is the account of what happened:

Yesterday in the morning I was at the Pearl of Africa Hotel when the Chaka Chaka saga happened.

  1. Police visited the hotel when Chaka Chaka was making her way out in a convoy of three vehicles . The police politely requested to have a discussion with her and her team. The discussions happened at the drop off area of the hotel.
  2. The police pointed out to Chaka Chaka and her team that they had credible information that she was about to engage in a commercial activity that would contravene the terms of her tourists Visa. That she didn’t declare the correct purpose of her visit both at the time of applying for the Visa and at the port of entry.
  3. The police requested Chaka Chaka and her team to stay at the hotel and refrain from the commission of Visa violations.
  4. Chaka Chaka was rather angry throughout the discussions and kept shouting at the police officers who, in all fairness remained professional.
  5. For some reason, Chaka and her crew had already paid their hotel bills and checked out.
  6. The police also insisted they needed a full disclosure of her itenary in order for the force to be able to offer sufficient protection for her team
  7. We intervened in the discussions and the police offered to drive Chaka Chaka’s promoters to the Ministry of Internal Affairs so they could apply for a Work Visa.
  8. Chaka Chaka declined.
She demanded to be escorted to the airport and declared she was leaving the country. A number of us pleaded with her to give her team and the police time to sort out the Visa issue. She refused
  9. The police officers at the scene explained to her that their instructions were not to escort her to the airport. Their instructions were to ensure she doesn’t violate the conditions of her Visa. They spent quite some time consulting on phone before they were permitted to escort her to the airport as she had demanded.

“Where does the Bobi Wine story come in here? Police was willing to help her get a work visa and do her performance. Do many of us think Chaka Chaka should be allowed to violate the law for fear that insisting on the rule of law will be used to claim some political persecution of Bobi Wine?” he asked.

He noted, “Finally for bobi wine supporters and sympathizers: Chaka Chaka herself posted on her twitter page that she was not deported. Where did daily monitor, and many of you, get this idea?”

The Significance Of Bobi Wine’s Afro Comb During His Freedom Online Show On Sunday…

Published

on

Many viewers of People Power presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine’s Freedom Show on Sunday afternoon saw him with an Afro comb in his hair but did not know it significance.

The Afro comb was not for swag, it is a huge political emblem and was a message to those he calls the oppressors.

Forty years ago, the Afro comb was worn in the hair not only as an adornment, but also as a political emblem and a signature of a collective identity. It was recognised as a way of saying no to oppression. Wearing the comb led to a kind of comradeship amongst those whose hair grows up and out, not down.

According to the Guardian, the Afro comb wasn’t very visible previously. And for this reason it has been assumed that the Afro comb was invented in the 1970s. But a new exhibition blows that myth out the water. The Afro comb dates back to ancient Egypt. The oldest comb from the collection is 5,500 years old.

The hundreds of combs on display show that over time the style hasn’t changed. The comb, sometimes called a pick, is commonly upright with long teeth. Sometimes a motif decorates the top. In ancient times it often referenced cultural belonging, and there are artifacts showing how people wore the comb in the hair. Time marches on and culture is always in transition. Now you know that Bobi’s comb was not for swagg but political.

Socialite Sheila Gashumba is busking in the sun after winning the first round against Urban TV’s famous Scoop on Scoop presenter Tina Fierce.

Sheila’s hubby god’s Plan revealed last week that he had put aside a special budget to pay the best lawyer to put a stop on Scoop On Scoop.

“For two years now I have been thinking of how we can put a stop to this show that has continuously demeaned, insulted people etc!! I put a budget aside to pay the best lawyers!! Now let’s meet in court. #stopsocialmediabullyinguganda,” god’s plan tweeted.

Later through their lawyers Balondemu and Co. Later, Tina through the same show swore that even if it means walking to eternity on foot, she cannot apologise to Sheila and god’s plan.

This evening, Urban TV announced the suspension of Scoop on Scoop in what they termed as a “Season Break”.

Though it’s not yet clear whether Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) influenced the suspension, Sheila thanked the UCC ED.

“Thanks to Twitter, we kept tagging @UCC_Official and the UCC ED And today My lawyers had a successful meeting with the Senior Legal Officer Of @UCC_Official about the #SqoopandSqoop tv show!Thank you @UCC_Official  !! Thank you my twitter family!!” Sheila tweeted.
