Kadaga Is Using Fellow Women To Satisfy Her Selfish Interests – Nyanjura…

    Published

    on

Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura (L) and (R) is Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga

The deputy speaker of KCCA, Doreen Nyanjura has criticized Women’s movements that have come out to support Rebecca Kadaga for speakership. She says it’s time for other women to take up these positions.

Nyanjura, who is a woman activist reffering to Kadaga stressed that the women movement must not be used for any individual selfish interests.

“We therefore think that it’s wrong for the Rt. Hon Kadaga to use the Women’s Movement as a vehicle for retaining her position when she has totally abandoned and forgotten the struggles of the ordinary women of this country.

Nyanjura cited with concern how the Women’s Movement in Uganda is being pulled into the center of the election of Speaker of Parliament.

“Let me make this clear! We are not against any woman politician, what we are against are women that support the oppression of their fellow women and yet want to use them to attain and retain their high positions,” she said.

Nyanjura questioned the Women Organizations and women activists that are supporting Kadaga; “What are your justifications beyond simply having a woman as a Speaker? Is it not you that brought the proposal of the two term limit for affirmative action seats? Is it not you who have been advocating,  training and encouraging us, the young women to take up such positions.”

“Kadaga has been in the Office of the Speaker for 20 years now, she has been in Parliament for 30 years, is it not time for her to give way to other women/ men who are pro Women that are in Parliament,” Nyanjura added.

Nyanjura noted that the same Women Organizations have been running campaigns against women violence, they have been doing this in isolation without Kadaga’s help.

She added that the marriage and divorce bill that is supposed to secure the safety and future of the vulnerable women and their children has been frustrated by a Parliament that Kadaga presides over.

“With all this, you can see with your naked eyes that Kadaga only gets interested in Women when her position is under threat. We must not let this happen again! We must not allow to be used,” said Nyanjura.

Justice Kisakye's misunderstanding with the Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo came in light during Kyagulanyi's presidential petition withdrawal against Museveni's reelection

Sources at the Kololo based Supreme Court have revealed  that two former Chief Justices have started mediating between eight Justices of the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo and Justice Dr Esther Mayambala Kisakye.

Our sources stated that last month, Justice Bart Magunda Katureebe, the immediate former Chief Justice separately met Chief Justice Dollo at his chambers at the Supreme Court and they held a secret meeting which took almost three hours. Our sources intimated to us that two weeks later, another former Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki also met Justice Dollo, where after the two former Chief Justices met the eight Justices of the Supreme Court including Justice Robby Opio Aweri, Justice Mike Chibitta, Justice Stella Arach Amoko, Justice Faith Mwondah, Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi, Justice Percy Night Tuhaise, Justice Paul Mugamba, and the issue at hand was the misunderstanding between them and fellow Justice Kisakye.

It is not yet established whether the former Chief Justices also met Justice Kisakye. The misunderstanding came in light during the withdrawing of the presidential petition filed by National Unity Platform (NUP)’s former presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine challenging president Yoweri Museveni’s victory.

Justice Kisakye accused Justice Dollo of confiscating her file containing her dissenting judgement after refusing him to vet her ruling. Judiciary’s Senior Communications officer Ssalongo Solomon Muyita rubbished Kisakye’s accusation stating that the problem was with her because she refused other justices on the penal from going through her ruling as the practice is, and or requires.

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leadership has warned the selected party members and the new elected Members of Parliament to avoid involving themselves in acts of indiscipline including having sex and getting drunk on alcohol during the ongoing party retreat at Kyankwanzi National training Institute.

Speaking to the Grapevine, Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, the NRM’s Director for Communication and Public Relations revealed that they have already started investigating the indiscipline exhibited by their members during their trip to Kyankwanzi on Thursday evening where party members got drunk and started abusing each other on the bus. Dombo described the incident as “absurd” and revealed that investigations are on into the matter, warning that culprits will be punished.

Sources in Kyankwanzi intimated to this website that there is a candidate vying for the office of the deputy speaker who bought expensive alcohol and wine, on it branded with her pictures asking them to vote for her.

Dombo also said that all members who are going to attend the meeting will not be allowed to access their mobile phones until evening.

He added that other members who are pregnant will not be allowed for exercising after classes and breast feeding mothers were not welcome because of the highly physical demands of the retreat.

There have always been ugly reports from the previous retreats at Kyankwanzi where reports of alcoholism, explicit sex and NRM big wigs fighting for beds.
