LATEST FOOTBALL NEWS: Sergio Ramos Is An Idiot -Firmino, Man Utd Chasing Bale: Vieira Confirms Arsenal Talks: Ronaldo’s Madrid Future Plunged Into Doubt

Roberto Firmino has branded Sergio Ramos an ‘idiot’ for hitting out at Liverpool duo Loris Karius and Mohamed Salah. The Real Madrid defender has been blamed by Liverpool fans for Salah’s injury and the concussion Karius suffered during the Champions League final. Ramos slammed his critics after the final and insisted he was being targeted for no reason, because Salah could have played on if he really wanted to.
‘I am only missing Roberto Firmino saying he got a cold because a drop of my sweat landed on him,’ he said. The comments enraged Liverpool fans, but Firmino refused to be drawn into a war of words with Ramos. However, the Brazil forward did admit he thought Ramos’ comments made him look like an idiot.
He said: ‘I prefer not to make any comments, I think he has a view because he was the champion but I thought he was an idiot for what he said but that’s okay.’ The announcement of Karius’ concussion has garnered a mixed response from football fans, with some accepting the injury could have contributed to the goalkeeper’s blunders against Real, while others accusing Liverpool of looking for an excuse.
Salah is set to throw off his own injury concerns this summer and will feature for Egypt in the World Cup. The goalscorer is in a race against time to be fit in time for Egypt’s first group game against Uruguay, but should play against Russia on June 19. The World Cup kicks off next Thursday as the hosts Russia take on Saudi Arabia in Moscow.

Ronaldo’s Madrid future plunged into doubt
Cristiano Ronaldo has been told by Real Madrid that they will not be giving him the new contract he wants this summer, leaving a decision over his future very much in his hands.
Ronaldo believes he was promised a new deal last summer and when he was offered a heavily-bonus-dependent new contract at the start of the year he rejected it out-right.
His representatives have met with Madrid again this week and the Spanish club have made it clear they are not offering him the pay-parity with Lionel Messi and Neymar that he feels his serial Ballon d’Or winner status deserves.
Messi earns around £30.7m net a season from Barcelona bumped up to £40m because of a signing-on fee paid annually. Neymar, meanwhile, takes home £2.7m per month before tax, totaling a take home of around £32m a season.
Ronaldo earns closer to £22m and still has the cloud of an investigation into £13m in alleged undeclared income over his head.
He wants his new deal to make him the world’s highest-paid player again, and help him shoulder the financial burden of his tax case.
Ronaldo’s argument for a new mega-deal topping up his existing contract that expires in 2021 was damaged by him failing to make an impact in the Champions League final.
His post-match bombshell that he did not know if he would be staying and that he would talk in the next few days at first seemed to unsettle the club.
Speaking after the final whistle in Ukraine, Ronaldo said: ‘In the coming days there will be answer about my future. It has been very nice playing for Real Madrid.
‘In the next few days I will give an answer. Now we have to enjoy the moment. The future of any player is not important. We have made history.’
But Madrid are not veering from their original position. They feel they have their 33-year-old asset tied down for another three years with a huge buy-out clause and are preferring to save funds for an eventual world-record-breaking bid for Neymar.
That transfer could be Ronaldo’s best way out of Real Madrid. He has an excellent relationship with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi; the Parisians could pay him the money he wants; and they see him as someone who commercially at least would fill the hole Neymar will leave if he switches clubs.
Ronaldo’s other option is a move to Japan, China, Qatar or the US but he does not want to walk away from the chance to add to his haul of five Champions League winner’s medals and five Ballon d’Or awards.

Sergio Aguero insists his future lies at Manchester City
Sergio Aguero insists he is extremely happy at Manchester City and reveals his relationship with manager Pep Guardiola is ‘really good’.
Aguero notched 30 goals in all competitions as City eased to the Premier League title by 19 points last season.
However, the Argentine is no longer as vital to the team as he once was and often Gabriel Jesus is chosen to spearhead the attack instead.
Despite that Aguero, who is expected to play a crucial role for Argentina at this summer’s World Cup in Russia, is adamant he sees his future at the Etihad Stadium.
‘It is really good, we were very clear when we saw each other,’ Aguero said in an interview on El Chiringuito de Jugones.
‘I try to do my job and he does his job. Obviously, he is always fine with me. I am happy how the season ended.
‘The club is happy, and I am happy in the club. I hope to stay until the end of my contract [in 2020].
‘I think every year [there are rumours] … maybe, a few more rumours this year with Atletico. With Madrid as well, since I left Atletico, it sounds like Madrid, Madrid, Madrid. Well, I’m a City player.
‘But it is always good that other teams are interested. What I have to do right now is to be focused on the World Cup, and after that, focused on City.’
Once his City deal expires Aguero has announced his intention to rejoin former club Independiente in Buenos Aires where he began his career before leaving for Atletico in 2006.
Aguero broke City’s scoring record when he netted his 178th goal for the club in November’s 4-2 win over Napoli. He has since moved onto 199.

I would love to play in the Premier League’: Higuain fuels Chelsea speculation
Gonzalo Higuain has fuelled the speculation that he could be leaving Juventus by saying he ‘would love to play in the Premier League’.
The Argentina striker has been on Chelsea’s radar this summer and has already reportedly been offered to the west London club.
Higuain signed for the Serie A side from Napoli back in July 2016 and his contract runs until 2021.
‘I have a contract with Juventus and no one has communicated anything different,’ he told ESPN in Argentina.
‘I’m very calm, my soul stays in Turin for now.
‘But I would love to play in the Premier League, it fascinates me a lot.’
Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has struggled since joining the club last summer.
The Spaniard scored 15 goals in 48 appearances for the Blues during the 2017-18 campaign, compared to Higuain’s 23 in 50.
Higuain trained with his Argentina team-mates on Thursday at Barcelona’s training ground ahead of the World Cup.

Real Madrid force Antoine Griezmann to reconsider move
Barcelona may miss out on Antoine Griezmann with Real Madrid turning the player’s head, according to reports in Spain.
Barcelona have long appeared in pole position to sign Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
The France international nearly joined Manchester United a year ago but, in the time since, has been linked with both Barca and Real Madrid.
The Catalan giants have been in pole position to sign Griezmann, meeting with the Atletico star’s representatives earlier in the season.
Yet Spanish website El Gol Digital say Real Madrid are interfering.
It is said that, while Griezmann would accept a move to Barcelona, he is really lusting after a move to Real.
He supposedly grew up idolising Los Blancos and Zinedine Zidane in particular.
Zidane quit as manager last week just days after steering Real to a third consecutive Champions League title in a row.
And he was also a huge fan of David Beckham.
Beckham spent four years at Real, moving from Manchester United in 2003 before joining LA Galaxy in 2007.
Griezmann is reportedly hungry to emulate his two heroes at the Bernabeu.
But, if Real refuse to pursue his signature, a move to Barcelona could yet beckon.

    Parlour backs Fellaini Arsenal move
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour believes Unai Emery should look to bring Marouane Fellaini to the Emirates.
Parlour reckons the Manchester United midfielder could be a useful addition to the squad due to his versatility.
“He’s something different,” he told Sky Sports
“Even if he didn’t start, you can bring him off the bench and if you’re chasing a goal, you might have to play a different style of football.
“Another player where people will say ‘yeah, that’s a decent signing’.”

Fellaini could sign because of Jose
Marouane Fellaini’s “very difficult” relationship with boss Jose Mourinho could see him leave Manchester United for Arsenal this summer, reckons Robert Pires.
Fellaini struggled to nail down a spot at United when fit last season, so Pires believes a fresh start at Arsenal would be good for him.
“Everybody knows Marouane Fellaini in the Premier League,” he told Sky Sports.
“Of course last season it was very, very difficult, the relation with Jose Mourinho.
“But I think he’s a good player, if he wants to join Arsenal I think it would be good news.
“He needs a new start and I think, with his quality, I think he can help Unai Emery and he can help the Arsenal players in the squad.”

    Vieira confirms Arsenal talks
Patrick Vieira has confirmed he spoke to Arsenal about replacing Arsene Wenger.
“Their executives met through a process which included a conversation with me but it didn’t go any further,” Vieira told The Times.
“I have been allowed to grow as a coach and gain valuable experience. That has helped me become much more clear in my approach, my vision of football.
“A game is there to be won. I want to enjoy myself on the bench, to have a team play football I want to see. To be bold.”

    Ozil doubt for Russia
Mesut Ozil is in a race against time to be fit for the World Cup.
The Arsenal ace is struggling with injury and could miss the start of the tournament.
BILD claim he has missed the last four days with injury and he is a doubt for the finals.
Ozil missed Arsenal’s last seven Premier League games but did play in the two legs against Atletico Madrid.

Mourinho in contact with agent of £50m Manr Utd target Marko Arnautovic
Jose Mourinho has held discussions with the agent of West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic over a move to Manchester United, according to reports. Austria international Arnautovic only joined the Hammers last summer but is already being linked with a move away after impressing for the east London club. United have signed two players so far this summer – with Diogo Dolot following Fred through the doors at Old Trafford – but the club are being linked with a number of other moves.
Mourinho signed Romelu Lukaku last summer and Alexis Sanchez in January but he remains interested in strengthening his attacking options. And the Portuguese manager is said to have expressed interest in signing Arnautovic, who he briefly worked with at Inter Milan. According to Austria outlet Osterreich, Mourinho has shared text messages with Arnautovic’s brother and agent, Danijel.
Last week, Arnautovic was asked about the interest from Manchester United and admitted he was flattered to be linked with the Premier League giants. ‘It’s nice to hear, I haven’t heard anything from my brother, my agent,’ he said. ‘You can keep asking this question but you’ll never hear the answer from me.’

Alisson Liverpool deal ‘almost a done deal’
Liverpool are in pole position to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson despite interest from Chelsea, reckons ESPN FC pundit and ex-West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop.
“The issue is Courtois is heavily linked with Real Madrid,” Hislop said of Chelsea’s interest in Alisson. “So as a result Chelsea start looking and understandably Alisson is on everyone’s radar.
“Now, my understanding was Alisson to Liverpool was almost a done deal. I thought he would have heard something about that by now, we haven’t.
“But still, I’m going to keep Liverpool in pole position. So as a result, this is a miss for Chelsea.”
    Nabil Fekir talks at standstill
There is no chance of Nabil Fekir joining Liverpool during the World Cup, according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
The France international is strongly expected to follow Fabinho to Anfield this summer.
Fekir, 24, commands a £60million valuation having netted 18 Ligue 1 goals last season – one less than Neymar.
But Aulas says that talks with Liverpool have reached a standstill.
“The transfer is at a standstill, there is no way forward,” Aulas said. “The deal will certainly not close during the World Cup and I do not think there is any change before the World Cup. We have not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet.”

    Man Utd chasing Bale
Manchester United will prioritise signing Gareth Bale over Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, reports claim.
Bale and Ronaldo have been linked with returns to the Premier League over the past few years and their dual admissions led to claims Old Trafford chiefs could swoop for them.
The Manchester Evening News say United have decided to go after Bale rather than Ronaldo ahead of the 2018/19 campaign though.
United chief Ed Woodward made Bale a target as soon as he took up his senior post at the club.
While Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of the winger and discussed the possibility of signing him last year.
United are apparently keeping close tabs on developments regarding Bale, who revealed he will hold talks with Real and his agent, Jonathan Barnett.
Real are expected to demand more than £100m for Bale, which would make him their most expensive signing ever.

    Willian to leave Chelsea
Manchester United have moved a step closer to signing Willian for Chelsea this summer, according to the bookmakers.
Coral have slashed their price on Willian joining Manchester United, and he is now odds on to be wearing red next season.
“Willian is now odd-on for the first time to move to Manchester United therefore we believe this a deal which will be completed this summer,” said Coral’s John Hill.

Sergio Ramos tells Real Madrid to complete Alonso deal – report
Chelsea star Marcos Alonso is wanted by Real Madrid, reports in Spain claim.
The defender impressed under Antonio Conte this season, despite the Blues’ disastrous Premier League title defence.
Chelsea finished fifth this year, with Liverpool beating Conte’s men to the final Champions League spot.
Alonso, 27, helped the Blues win the FA Cup, with Chelsea beating Manchester United at Wembley last month.
And according to Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Alonso is wanted by Real this summer.
They say Real captain Sergio Ramos has told Bernabeu transfer chiefs to sign Chelsea ace Alonso this summer.
Ramos feels the defender is versatile and Alonso would bolster Real’s defensive ranks.
Alonso has been vocal about his transfer plans this summer, with the defender revealing he’s fully focused on Chelsea.

Moses Golola (L) and General Fungu (R)

General Hamza Fungu has vowed to fight Moses Golola and send him into retirement come 26th December. 2022.
