FANS are demanding Arsene Wenger quits Arsenal after their Carabao Cup humiliation. Thousands of supporters were seen streaming out of Wembley early after their side were hammered 3-0 by Manchester City. While hundreds of thousands more took to Twitter to demand the Frenchman resigns with immediate effect after the Wembley humiliation.
Could Arsene Wenger resign?
Despite the pleas from fans, it seems unlikely.
Wenger agreed a new two-year contract, extending his then 21-year reign at the club, last May.
It means he is under contract with the club until May 2019.
Despite the huge calls for him to go, Wenger will likely stick it out until the end of the season at least.
What could happen at the end of the season?
Well, Wenger would still be under contract but he has previously admitted his position will be reviewed when the campaign is over.
Speaking at the club’s AGM in October, Wenger said: “I want to see what the board thinks of my performance.
“After that we decide where we go from there. My desire has always been to respect my contracts, but that is what I meant.”
What are the pundits saying after Arsenal’s Carabao Cup disaster?
The reaction has been, unsurprisingly, negative. Gary Neville went into a full-on rant at Arsene Wenger’s men live on air with Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey getting the brunt of his criticism.
He said: “Look at Ramsey walking, he’s walking. Xhaka’s walking. Mesut Ozil is walking.
“Don’t walk at Wembley. Don’t walk on a football pitch. It’s impossible. Run.
“Look at Xhaka and Ramsey walking back, they are central midfield players.
“Forget Arsenal, I’ll come into them in a minute as they’re a disgrace.
“A minute before that goal I mentioned the walking of the Arsenal payers and the retreating runs of Ramsey and Xhaka.
“They are an absolute disgrace they are, walking on a football pitch at Wembley, giving up. Spineless.
“This is a dark, dark day. The team have just not shown up.
“There’s nothing I’ve liked about this Arsenal performance – not one single thing.”

Lewandowski to Chelsea: Blues ahead of Man Utd for move
CHELSEA are reportedly in pole position to sign Robert Lewandowski ahead of Manchester United should Bayern Munich consider bids this summer.
The Poland international recently switched agents to join forces with Pini Zahavi, ending his 10-year partnership with Cezary Kucharski.
It has sparked speculation suggesting Lewandowski is preparing for a big-money move out of the Bundesliga.
He has spent the past eight years playing in Germany, having joined Borussia Dortmund in 2010 from Lech Poznan.
And the 29-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s best strikers in the German league.
However, The Sun claim Lewandowski is considering a one final move and the Premier League is high on his wishlist.
It is said Chelsea are the leading candidates for his signature.
Zahavi helped Roman Abramovich take over at Chelsea in 2003 and he could play a crucial role in taking him to Stamford Bridge.
If Bayern accept Lewandowski wants to leave though, it could spark a bidding war from the Premier League’s elite clubs.
United have proven they have the financial muscle after making Alexis Sanchez the best paid player in the Premier League while Manchester City are likely to continue their spending power in the summer.
Liverpool would reportedly also be in the mix to take Lewandowski as Jurgen Klopp as the man who helped the striker make a name for himself at Dortmund.

Neymar Injured: PSG ace leaves pitch on stretcher in tears!
NEYMAR was stretched off in Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Marseille this evening, leaving him in tears.
PSG were cruising to a 3-0 win over Marseille this evening when disaster struck when Neymar fell to the floor in agony.
After tussling with Bouna Sarr for the ball, the Brazil international seemingly fell awkwardly to the ground, leaving him clutching his ankle.
Upon replay it looked as though he had twisted his ankle as he chased down the Marseille star.
After being attended to by PSG medical staff, Neymar had to be stretchered off in the 82nd minute.
And the 26-year-old was clearly distressed by the injury as he held his head in his hands as he departed the field.
It could come as a huge blow to PSG heading into their second leg against Real Madrid, although they have nine days until that match.
PSG lost the first leg 3-1 with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a brace, leaving it all to do in the return fixture.
The away goal could prove pivotal for the Ligue 1 giants, but they would face an even bigger uphill battle should Neymar be ruled out.
Neymar has enjoyed a stellar season so far in his debut campaign in the French capital having joined from Barcelona in the summer for a world-record fee.
He has scored 29 goals in 30 matches as well as providing 17 assists.
The Brazilian has struck up a frightening partnership alongside Edison Cavani and Kylian Mbappe, but there are constant rumours suggesting Real could make a stunning attempt to sign him at the end of the season.
Emery offered some reassurance to PSG fans regarding Neymar’s injury after the game, claiming he is “optimistic” the forward will be fit to face the La Liga giants.

Roberto Firmino plan revealed to prevent shock summer transfer
LIVERPOOL are reportedly ready to reward Roberto Firming a bumper new contract in an attempt to discourage any potential suitors making a move in the summer.
Firmino scored for the third time in a row in Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing of West Ham at Anfield to take his tally for the season to 22 goals in all competitions.
He has also played a pivotal role in Mohamed Salah’s blistering start to life on Merseyside and continues to enjoy good line-up play with Sadio Mane.
Eyebrows were often raised when Jurgen Klopp began using Firmino as Liverpool’s leading attacker as he was often seen as a second striker.
But the Brazil international has proved he is one of Europe’s most feared forwards under Klopp’s stewardship for his tenacious effort to close down defenders from the front as well being a clinical finisher.
And the Daily Mail claim Liverpool are ready to offer him a fresh deal as reward for his efforts.
It is said the Reds are confident there will not be any hassle in agreeing terms on a new contract.
Firmino is clearly very popular in the Liverpool dressing room as well, with Trent Alexander-Arnold giving a glowing report of his team-mate.

Antoine Griezmann makes final decision over Man Utd transfer
ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has reportedly turned down Manchester United and already agreed to join Barcelona in the summer.
The France international was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford at the end of last season.
But Griezmann announced he would remain at Atletico Madrid due to the act they were unable to find a replacement because of their transfer ban.
United swiftly turned their attention elsewhere by bringing in Romelu Lukaku, leaving doubt over whether they would return with a bid in the next transfer window.
The 26-year-old’s current £175million release clause will drop to £100m in the summer, meaning most of Europe’s elite clubs could be vying for his signature.
Despite Barcelona shelling out over £350m on Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi’s contract extension, they have emerged as favourites to sign the forward. And they have seemingly now won the race for his signature.
That’s according to Spanish journalist Albert Roge, who claims the striker has already agreed terms privately to sign for Barcelona.
