Our sources have established that there’s alot of unease within the leading opposition political sides, with the tension arising from the ruling party’s upcoming big event.
Change-seeking supporters from opposite camps have been reduced to blows, arising from confusion as their leaders at the moment can not agree on what to do next as their habitual rival prepares to be sworn in for another five year term.
Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is set to be sworn in as the next president of Uganda at the Kololo independence grounds on 12th May, as Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform (NUP) and the Patrick Oboi Amuriat-led Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) camps exchange sharp words instead.
Before, during and after the election, Bobi Wine publicly launched a nation wide assurance campaign that Museveni under all circumstances would not be sworn in as president – sloganeering that the NUP is not Museveni’s usual “unserious” opposition.
In the same vein, the Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura of the FDC has reminded the NUP camp of how they accused her former boss, Dr. Kizza Besigye – a four time presidential candidate of “playing games” to help Museveni stay in power.
If Museveni successfully swears in on Wednesday, he is going for forty years in Uganda’s front seat as the driver since 1986.
As if to insinuate that “where’s the promised land you and your principal assured us of?” Nyanjura sent a direct message to the Red camp that “The struggle is not a walk in the park” thus declaring her forgiveness for all those that disrespected the founders of the “modern struggle” to oust Museveni from power after 35 years now.
Frankly talking her mind out Nyanjura sated that; “I am not celebrating anyone’s failure because none of us (NUP and FDC) has won, I am simply saying we ought to respect each other and acknowledge each others contribution,” Nyanjura said.
Meanwhile, NUP, have declared Wednesday a day of prayer and fasting, the party spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi has announced.
“We’ll beseech God to heal Uganda (2 Chronicles 7:14). As Mr. Museveni swears himself in after a rigged election, killing, incarcerating and maiming people, NUP leaders will be at NUP offices to pray,” Ssenyonyi said, urging NUP supporters and other change-seekers that they too can pray from wherever they will be.
BACKGROUND
The two leading opposition parties (NUP and FDC) came second and third respectively in the January election that the incumbent NRM candidate was declared winner.
Whereas both NUP and FDC, like all the other contestants except the winner protested the outcome of the election, Bobi Wine went a mile further and assured his supporters that Museveni would not swear in by all means.
Bobi Wine, who according to the Independent Electoral Commission got 35.0% of the vote, inferior to Museveni’s 58.38 insisted that he was the rightful winner, and that his nemesis had rigged the election.
Bobi Wine took the matter to courts of law, where he would later choose to withdraw the case, to forward it to the people’s court (the court of public opinion) citing bias in the Supreme Court of the land.
With so much dedication and determination to lead Uganda to the “promised land “, Bobi Wine has now left everything, including “The Struggle” to God.
