Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) aspirant Eng. Patrick Amuriat Oboi has today been duly dominated as candidate for the 2021 Presidential race.
“The villager”, as Amuriat has christened himself confidently marched barefoot to the nominations desk, presented his credentials and normally went through his whole nomination process without shoes.
He had earlier on been arrested today morning following a standoff at the party headquarters. He was then pulled from his car and thrown into a police saloon car that sped off.
Amuriat, moments later emerged out of the Police car at Kyambogo without shoes to be nominated for Presidency.
Speaking to the press after nomination, Amuriat condemned the manner in which he was arrested by Police.
“Today I came to this nomination a prisoner. While trying to access my documents, I was kidnapped, forced into a saloon vehicle, brutalised and I feel body pain. I have come here without shoes not because I chose not to wear shoes but show the kind of dictatorship,” Amuriat stressed.

The villager has now made a big political statement in town, his presence in the city centre has been felt, and him arriving at Kyambogo grounds amidst all the hurdles on the way has only kept Amuriat’s presidential bid alive.
Amuriat became the sixth presidential aspirant to be nominated after NRM Yoweri Museveni, Alliance for National Transformation Mugisha Muntu, Lt. Gen (Rtd) Henry Tumukunde among others.
Amuriat vowed to oust incumbent President, Museveni from power, and appealed to the chairman of the EC to intervene and ensure equality, noting that change in the country would not come on silver platter.
Amuriat further called on the FDC leadership to rally support of all ugandans. He noted that his slogan was building a new Uganda.
“My candidature is about this woman who when she goes to deliver, risks dying and yet we have people receiving preferential treatment out there,” he said.
Amuriat, who revealed that his FDC party would be unveiling it’s manifesto within one week in Soroti City also noted that his presidency was going to be a lean government so that the money saved would deliver services.
Before his nomination, a combination of Uganda Police Force (UPF) and Local Defence Unit (LDU) were deployed at the FDC offices in Najjanankumbi, along Entebbe Road, today morning, restricting access to the FDC offices ahead of the nomination of the party’s presidential flag bearer, Patrick Oboi Amuriat.
The intention of the deployment is still unknown as police is yet to issue a statement on the same, but the FDC flag bearer, Amuriat had repeatedly vowed to lead a procession from the FDC offices to Kyambogo sports grounds where he was slated to to be nominated.
