    Police Investigating Businessman For Defiling 17-Year-Old Student Who Asked Him For A Job, Fetus Stuck In Her Womb After Failed Abortion…

    Police Spokesperson CP Enanga Fred has disclosed that the Directorate of CID is is investigating an alleged case of Aggravated Defilement and procurement of Abortion, against a 17-year-old female S.3 student, in one of the schools in Kisoro district.

    Enanga said that that the culprit is a one Ndikuyezi Ramathan, a prominent Estate and fuel dealer in Kisoro district.

    “The facts gathered indicate that during the COVID lockdown, the victim approached the suspect for a job at his petrol station. The suspect instead promised her a job in his estate business. It is during one of the inspections of his estate business, that they got involved and started a love affair till April 2022, when the victim realized she was pregnant and tried to abort secretly, with the help of a medical person in Kisoro,” Enanga said.

    He added, “Due to much fear for her parents, the victim left for Kampala and got a job as a maid at Musawo’s in Bukasa. She however, developed complications and was rushed to Quatum Medical Facility, where it was established that the fetus was still stuck in her womb. The victim was transferred to Nsambya Hospital for better treatment.”

    Enanga added that the matter has since gained attention in Kisoro and Kigezi region.

    He divulged, “Although the victim claims she is 19, her parents claim she is 17 years. We are treating the matter as a priority and will ensure the rights of the victim are protected. What she has endured is painful and our team of counsellors are handling her with sensitivity and respect.

    “We want to thank the parents for the courage they took to report the matter to police, the fact that the suspect is a prominent businessman who wields power and influence in Kisoro. It will lead other victimized parents to stand-up to abusers, who victimize their children.

    “We applaud the officers from the Sexual and Gender Based Violence Department, CID KMP and Kisoro Territorial Police for taking aggressive action to thoroughly investigate the disturbing allegations. They are pursuing all venues, including DNA and other scientific tests against the samples taken from the suspect and the victim.”

    He cautioned the public in Kigezi Region not rush to judgement until the DPP gives her legal opinion.

    “Obviously if the charges are suctioned expect us to charge the suspect to court immediately for Human trafficking, Aggravated Defilement and Procuring an abortion,” he disclosed.

    6 Arrested For Sex Trafficking

    Police in Kiira and Jinja City has arrested at least 6 suspects involved in grooming boys into sodomy, homosexuality, and recording pornography.

    The suspects were arrested from Mpumudde zone, Jinja City and are currently detained at Kiira police station.

    These include Kalungi Fabian, Kiiza Brian, Menya Sadat, Ibanda Godfrey, Katumba Hamuza and Wasajja Shafic

    According to a statement issued by Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Ibanda Geoffrey and Kiiza Brian were found in possession of 192 Sackets of lubricants, shirts and stags with LGBTQ Logos, metallic banner of peace and comfort with LGBTQ flag.

    Enanga says the suspects were involved in recording sex videos in exchange for money from LGBTQ donors.

    “It was established that members of the criminal sex gang recorded sex videos and also streamed live sessions, which they submitted to LGBTQ donors for funding of their activities,” he said.

    Police says some of the 6 suspects were examined and found to be HIV positive and effortstto trace their victims are ongoing.

    Enanga says police is getting reports about sexual networks that are sex trafficking minors and teenagers, and ushering them into sodomy.

    “We are continuing to get concerns of several criminal sexual networks that are actively involved in sex trafficking of minors and teenage boys, who are recruited into acts of sodomy and other unnatural practices in Busoga region, Wakiso and Kampala area,” he said.

    According to police, victims are introduced into such vices through man friends, drugs and parties.

    Fred Enanga urged Ugandans to fight the acts of sex trafficking that are continuing to grow.

    “These acts of sex trafficking of male juvenile is heinous and disturbing crime, which calls upon every Ugandan, to concert efforts in fighting it,”he said.

    Police is carrying out investigations to safeguard the public and any other victims of child sexual exploitation.

    NUP Women Protestors Granted Bail

    Women Protestors belonging to the National Unity Platform (NUP) have been granted bail by Law Development Centre (LDC) Court.

    The Protestors who held a protest on women’s day were granted a case bail of Shs100,000 on March 20th. This followed a production warrant to produce them in court before March 29th, the initial day they had to be arraigned in court.

    The 10 women were arrested on women’s day during a protest in which they demanded for the release of political prisoners, called for stoppage of torture and abductions.

    These include Kyeone Stella, Nakiku Allen, Namtovu Milly, Nankya Fiona, Sselonga Rukia, Bulungi Jackie, Nantume Allen, Namutyaba Sylvia, Rwamto Apio Flavia and Nyanzi Elizabeth.

    David Lewis Rubongoya, the general secretary NUP said it is unfortunate that freedom of assembly has been suppressed in Uganda.

    “It is very unfortunate that the freedom of assembly has been taken away from Ug. We are happy that they hv been released on bail but we condemn the arrest of all those that have come out to protest and got arrested,”he said.

    Hanifah Nabukeera, woman MP Mukono, who acted as lawyer of the accused said she was surprised by the cash court asked.

    Nabukeera said court usually charges them exorbitant bail fees to fail their bail application which wasn’t the case today.

    Truck Rams Into School, Kills 3 Students

    3 people have lost their lives while 18 have sustained life threatening injuries following an accident at Kasaka Senior Secondary School in Gomba on March 14th, 2023.

    A driver of a sino truck registration number UBL 790J lost control and rammed into Kasaka Senior Secondary School computer laboratory killing three on spot.

    The deceased are S.5 student Evelyn Namagembe, Mawanda Bosco (s.2) and Asege Hilda a candidate in her form four.

    The incident was confirmed by traffic police spokesperson Faridah Nampiima.

    “It is alleged that the sino truck driver lost control and rammed into Kasaka Senior Secondary School fence, proceeded through to the school computer lab that was occupied by students, killing three students on spot and injuring other 18,” Nampiima said in a statement.

    Nampiima further said that the truck driver Wanume Abudala, 26, has been arrested following the incident.

    “We have arrested the truck driver a one Wanume Abudala a 26 year old,” she said.

    The traffic police spokesperson says police is carrying out more investigations on the incident.
