on

The state has applied to the High Court International Crimes Division seeking protection of witnesses who are going to testify against the suspected killers of the late Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the former spokesperson of the Uganda Police Force.

Lino Anguzu, the Assistant Director of public prosecution, informed Justice Duncan Gaswaga that they want their witnesses to be protected.

“My lord, we have filed an application for protective measures for witnesses during the pre-trial,” Anguzu stated.

He further revealed that as prosecution, they have disclosed 95% of the evidence they intended to use in the pretrial to the defense lawyers.

He added that the remaining evidences will be disclosed before the start of the pretrial.

Defense lawyer Anthony Wameli didn’t object to the application and the hearing is expected to kick off on 17th August 2020.

Kaweesi was brutally murdered in 2017 when he was driving from his home in Kulambiro to Uganda Christian University in Mukono.

When asked why he killed his daughter, Kayizi shocked operatives and some local leaders when he testified that he decided to slaughter their daughter because his wife Nambalirwa Kevina refused to return home.

The Panga that Kayizi used

Kayizi recounted that he grabbed their daughter from Kevina and later slaughtered her in the coffee plantation of one of his family members identified as Girayidda Namubiru.

Rebel Leader Jamil Mukulu Vows To Expose Rot At Luzira Prison, Blasts Judge Over Her Negative Statements Towards Muslims…

Published

on

Incarcerated Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) leader Jamil Mukulu Kyagulanyi has vowed to expose the rot in Luzira prison.

Exclusively speaking to this website, Anthony Wameli one of the lawyers representing Mukulu revealed that his client wanted to inform court that he is being physically and psychologically tortured in the prison because of being a Muslim.

This website established from one of Mukulu’s sisters that his brother was one time seriously beaten by a fellow inmate who accused him of being a terrorist.

Jamil’s sister disclosed that the insult on his brother was intentional and planned from within the prison and the prison leadership was aware of whatever was going on.

Efforts to speak to Frank Baine the spokesperson of the prisons service were futile since he has been not picking our calls.

Earlier today, Mukulu faced off with the High Court Judge Suzan Okalany who he accused of being biased against Muslims.

Mukulu said that Okalany made a statement when she was still a prosecutor in the Directorate of Public Prosecution that Muslims are deadly people and can kill even in prison.

It should be remembered that Okalany replaced the late Joan Kagezi who was murdered as prosecutor.

Mukulu insisted that Okalany’s statements were written in the newspapers and he has copies.

It should be noted that in 2019, retired Chief Justice Bart Katureebe signed new rules of procedures that one can use to apply for recusal.

He stated that one can appeal verbally or in writing to court and if the presiding judicial officer doesn’t find any substance in the recusal application, he can proceed with the hearing.

However, Katureebe also guided that the ruling of the judicial officer should be recorded in his final judgment to help the applicant rely on it if he decides to appeal against the decision of the controversial judicial official.

Mukulu threatened to drop the bail application if Okalany does not recuse herself.

However, the nonsense Okalany insisted that she is not going to recuse herself from the hearing of Mukulu’s bail application because of just mere threats.

But Wameli told this website that he is going to talk to his client tomorrow and see the way forward. Mukulu was arrested in Tanzania in 2015 and he is battling with murder, attempted murder, and terrorism in the High Court International War Division.
