This urban terrorism and crime is much easier to defeat. – President Museveni Guarantees Ugandans Security As He Sends Festive Season Message

President of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

President of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has guaranteed Ugandans that security will be at its best during the festive season as he wished Ugandans a happy festive season.

The President through his Facebook page said,  ” As you may have been reading in some of the papers, the People and the Security forces have launched a limited counter-offensive against the criminals that have been robbing and terrorizing some parts of the country.
I call this counter- offensive limited because we are still using the traditional police methods of relying on human intelligence (eye- witnesses, finger prints etc). We are in the process of developing the electronic means and other means of fighting crime that I outlined in my speech to Parliament on the June 20th 2018.
Nevertheless, even with the old means of vigilance by the population, fast response by the police and other security agencies, the following have been achieved:
On the 11th of December, at Bukomero, one of our fighting areas, 52 miles from Kampala on Hoima Road, One Mayanja Asuman got robbed of Shs33 million by four robbers, using one gun. Mayanja is an agent of Bidco and he was selling Bidco products and collecting payments for them. The thieves opened fire, injured a bystander who did not die, and grabbed the money from Mayanja. It seems the robber who was firing the gun injured himself by accident. The robbers now tried to escape on two motorcycles going towards Kampala.
After a little distance, they realized that the accidentally injured robber was delaying them in their escape and shot him dead themselves, removed all items from him to make his identification difficult. However, the Police was now in hot pursuit. Through phones, the trading centres ahead were alerted. They mounted road blocks which the remaining 3 robbers could not bypass.
At one of the road blocks, at Matte, mile 40 or thereabout from Kampala, one of the robbers, Ivan Lukwago, who used to work at Nabukeera Bus Park, Allen Road Stage, was shot dead. He was the chairperson of the stage and belonged to the 2010 Boda Boda group.
The robbers were now forced to abandon the two boda bodas and we, therefore, now know their owners and we have a lot of information about the robbers. The IGP must find out why the OC station Kiryokya did not intercept these criminals and the two remaining criminals escaped with the gun and the money. However, this is a great break through because the Police has now confirmed what sort of people are involved.

On the 16th of December, 2018, ten robbers invaded Biyinzika International Poultry Farm in Kigumba, Goma Sub-county, Mukono. This was at 0204hrs (four minutes past two am – shaha munaana gw’ekiro) and the private Security guards on duty were alerted by the thieves switching off the electricity and, it seems, got ready. When the gang of thieves got in sight, they opened fire. The thieves also fired back. The security guards killed three of the thieves and the rest fled with the gun they were firing but dropped 100 chicken they had stolen. This is, again, a break through because the dead thieves, once identified, will lead us to their associates.

On the the 14th of December, 2018 at 8.45pm, at Balubandi in Iganga town Council, Dr. Gwaluka Ibrahim, was shot by criminals who were inside his compound. My question is: “Were there no people at home? Why did they not see these People before?” There are a number of clues that the Police have and some arrests have been made and the killers of Masaka on New Year’s Day. Their leader Kiddawalime was killed by a combination of people’s vigilance and quick police response. Galiwango was also arrested. Therefore, that group has been wiped out. Congratulations to the Police and the People.

The group that attacked Mrs. Zubairi Bakari on the 23rd of October 2018, at Ssenge, Wakiso. The Police shot dead Byamukama who, while dying , revealed the master -mind of the criminality. The alleged master-minders of the criminality, Kusemererwa and Kenneth Ssentongo, have been arrested and the network has been exposed and in Alebtong, Lango, a soldier who is suspected to have killed his relative has been arrested. Congratulations to my daughter Josephine Omara, the RDC there, who organised the Wanainchi to expose the criminal. Those suspects who killed Rwego on the 24th October 2018, were arrested because of the dog bites they sustained while trying to get into the house. People who saw the dog bites reported to the Police.

These examples show what can be done with just vigilance and fast Government action (Police and Administration). This is all before the activation of our planned electronic systems. This is to repeat what I said in my earlier speeches. We defeated rural based terrorism which was much more serious. This urban terrorism and crime is much easier to defeat. It is just a question of three elements: vigilance of the people, quick response of the Police and technology. With technology, things will be much simpler.
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
President of Uganda.”

ALL EVIDENCE PINS HIM: State Asks Court To Convict Tycoon Sebuufu On Murder Of Businesswoman Katushabe

Businessman Sebuufu (L) with the late Katushabe (R)

State prosecutor Michael Ojoko has asked High Court Judge Flavia Senoga  to convict pine car bond proprietor Muhammad Sebuufu and six others for killing city businesswoman Donna Betty Katushabe.

In their final submission today, Ojoko told court that the prosecution has proved that Sebuufu and the co-accused murdered Katushabe. He submitted that Sebuufu planned the murder of Katushabe because two days before the murder, he kidnapped Katushabe from her home in Bwebajja, Wakiso district. Sebuufu also sent his security assistant Shaban Oduutu  to open a car theft case  number SD-54-17-10-2015 at Kampala central police station.

Ojoko told court that Sebuufu’s mission to open up this case was to prove that Katushabe was a thief who stole a vehicle from Pine car bond and it was the reason why they killed her. He further said that Sebuufu never followed the case he opened. Ojoko cited the testimony of Specioza Nyanza a police officer who commanded the arrest of Katushabe. Specioza told court that during the deceased’s arrest, she was fine and did not look sickly as the defendant claimed. Ojoko revealed that it was after the deceased was beaten and tortured at pine that she died. The pathology doctor William Mutumba indicated in his pathology report that Katushabe died because of blood tumors.

He said that the tumor was as a result of torture and constant beatings. She further explained that even the laboratory tests indicated that the blood found on the wall in Sebuufu’s office was corresponding with that of Katushabe which proves that she was murdered in Sebuufu’s office.

He explained to the presiding judge that even though the trading license found in Sebuufu’s office was not in his names, there were witnesses who pinned him that he used that office to torture Katushabe. He submitted that Peter Tumusiime, the lawyer who was sent by his boss Annet Kobusingye, a lawyer to Katushabe told court that he found Sebuufu and five well-built men beating Katushabe who was undressed and on handcuffs.

He added that it was Sebuufu who called Kobusingye, the lawyer to the deceased ordering her to bring his balance of Shs9m which Katushabe owed him after the purchase of a Toyota Premio car. He added that Sebuufu even warned her that if she failed to raise the money, he was going to kill Katushabe which he did. He said that it was the first time for Kobusigye to talk to Sebuufu so there was no reason why he would have deceived court. Ojok told court that the phone communication showed that Sebuufu was at pine by the time Katushabe was murdered not at Mwanga 11 court as he claimed.

He said that the conviction of Sebuufu will save the public from people who are killing others unlawful. The case is still on ongoing.

If My Client Is Killed In Luzira Prison Lt. General Gutti Will Be Answerable – Kittata’s Lawyer Bangs Tables

Published

on

Abdallah Kitatta

Lawyer Shaban Sanywa who is representing embattled bodaboda 2010 patron Abdullah Kittata has warned that if his client dies in Luzira government prison Lt General Andrew Gutti, the chairperson of the Makindye based court martial will be answerable.

Sanywa first protested state prosecutor captain Samuel Masereje’s submission. Capt. Masejere submitted that Kittata must be remanded to Luzira or Kigo  civilian prisons because the threats against his life were no more and his case reached an end.

However, Sanywa challenged Masereje’s arguments saying that his client should be left in Makindye Military prison because he is safe there. Sanywa revealed that there are people who are targeting Kitatta’s life. He cited two people who were arrested at Makindye Military prison trying to poison Kittata.

Even though Sanywa put up a spirited fight to have his client remain in Makindye prison, General Gutti turned a deaf ear and remanded Kittata to Luzira prison. Earlier, court was told that the three witnesses who were summoned by defense lawyer Sanywa to come and testify on Kittata’s side refused to honor the summons. Sanywa told court that he had served three witnesses but they intentionally refused to appear in court.

Later, Sanywa told the media that if his client dies in Luzira prison, the court martial boss Lt. Gutti will be answerable.

The suspects include Private Kenneth Okello, the officer in charge of Old Kampala police Armory, Sgt Allan Matsiko, the second body guard to Kittata and Vine Tea Hotel manager where Kittata arrested from with guns by military police. Kittata and nine others are facing charges of unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition and military gears which the state says they are a monopoly of only defense force.

The Blind Cannot Lead The Clear-Sighted; Kyagulanyi Is Lost And Blind – President M7’s Office Responds To Bobi Wine Over Arua Jibe

Published

on

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) through the office of the party chairman who is also the president have responded to Bobi Wine over his attack on President Museveni.

While in Arua yesterday, During the area MP Kassiano Wadri’s thanksgiving ceremony, Bobi told president Museveni that his days are numbered. He warned the president to stop telling him to stick to music because he didn’t also stick to cattle keeping.

In a message on their page, the president’s office said, “Kyaddondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), has been quoted as saying that the days of the National Chairman of NRM, President Yoweri Museveni, are numbered. The MP was speaking in Arua over the weekend.

In making the statement, the MP forgot to say that so many detractors have predicted doom and wished the NRM National Chairman ill luck for longer than anyone can remember but he has broken all records conceivable to be who and where he is. Only God can number his days.”

They added, “Instead, it is Kyagulanyi’s days that are numbered. Why? He attempted to jump into the deep end without any iota of intellectual and ideological propulsion leading to shameful spectacles such as the failure to define “fiscal policy concepts” as the world recently witnessed on live TV that left the MP with egg on his face. In comparison, when National Chairman Museveni was breaking his teeth in mainstream politics, he was so sophisticated in his ideas that Ugandans didn’t believe he was one of them. They were used to mediocrity and incoherence. When, eventually, he proved that his ideas were not meant for America or Europe but for Uganda, they embraced him and have never looked back since.

Ugandans expect no less a level of grasp and articulation of ideas decades on. Museveni’s being 33 years in power is not accidental but incidental to personal preparation and natural endowment.

When he told Kyagulanyi to concentrate on music, National Chairman Museveni was advising the manic junior politician against parading himself cluelessly in elevated circles of leadership without first garnering minimum thought and grasp of concepts, let alone articulating them to publics. High level leadership is far detached from music, comedy and social scandal. Any budding leader with hope of building a career to talk of would take such counsel in good faith and learn from the best.”

“The blind cannot lead the clear-sighted; Ugandans are clear-sighted, Kyagulanyi is lost and blind.
In Luganda they say: Nantabulirirwa asabala gwa bbumba (He who is hard of hearing takes the clayey path-and sinks in the marsh-despite being warned).

In Runyankole they say: Obinga ibiri, imutsiga (He who chases two animals in one go loses both). That’s the unfolding story of Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine!” they said.
