The Police have released CCTV footage of a gang of city thieves who robbed an Indian investor of Euros 100,000, which is over Shs400M, in broad day light.
According to the footage released by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) spokesperson Charles Twine Mansi, the thugs, who were riding on 8 motorcycles, are seen ganging up on the Indian, who is riding on a motorcycle, they brutally attack him and he falls down with his bike.
Two of them are seen kicking the man as he lies on the ground, after which they drab his bike and bag containing money before speeding off.
Twine released the footage after the police arrested some of the suspects who were involved in the robbery, although there are still others at large who are being hunted.

Twine revealed that the victim later reported the robbery and so far 15 people, including a family of three, were arrested by police for robbing an Indian investor of Euros 100,000.
Twine said that; “CCTV cameras and ground intelligence from people aided the police to make the arrests after a family of three, including parents of a 20-year-old male were arrested following intensified operations against crime in the city.”
He added that; “Mr and Mrs. Lule were arrested for shielding their son, Ssetimba Samuel, 20, resident of Kawaala, Rubaga Division, Kampala District, who was a prime suspect in the robbery of Euros 100,000 that had occurred a day earlier.”
Twine also revealed that “Another accomplice, Julius Mugisha, a boda-boda rider and resident of Wakiso Town Council, was also arrested. These are part of a bigger gang of suspects that were arrested for various other offences from in and around the city.”
According to the police, investigations indicate that Ssetimba, Mugisha and others still at large, while moving in a convoy of more than 8 Bajaj Boxer motorcycles, hit an Indian businessman with a hard object in the face, while hoodwinking onlookers as if they were hitting a thief. The incident left the victim unconscious, after which the suspects grabbed his bag, containing the money, Euros 100,000 and fled.
They were however arrested on Friday following weeks of being hunted for by the police and Twine revealed they will be paraded in court when investigations are completed to face several charges ranging from attempted murder and aggravated robbery.
However, Twine advised all Ugandans to desist from moving around with huge sums of money and that if they should do so, then they must seek security from either the police or private security organisations.
He revealed that in one week over Shs2bn has been stolen during broad day robberies in the Kampala in the past one week, noting that all Ugandans must be security conscious.
