We Are Insulted Wherever We Go Because Of You Mr. President, Please Step Down – Capt. Babu Tells Museveni

Published

on

A former senior member of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Captain Francis Babu has urged the party chairman who is also the president Yoweri Museveni to step down so that young people can take over the country.

In a one on one interview with The Grapevine, Babu said that the supreme and absolute power the African leaders have has always led to political instability in their countries and Museveni being an experienced leader and politician should have seen this earlier .

“President Museveni has absolute powers, he runs the whole country alone and he is everything. That’s the reason most of the institutions are now dead, we the NRM people and the supporters are also affected, we are always insulted wherever we pass yet it’s only one person, people think we are part of this, it’s time for him to step down. This has been clearly shown by the recent two elections Arua and Bugiri,” the former minister warned.

While analysing the political situation in the country, Babu, who is one of the country’s most seasoned aviators coutined his former boss that he should hand over power to the young generation particularly the youth just like countries like France and Austria did.

Babu also called upon the president to stop calling Ugandans his ‘bazukulu’ (grandsons) because everyone knows their jajjas (grandparents).

“Uganda’s problem currently is President Museveni, the country can’t be run by one person. In a race there are many runners, Museveni should let others participate in the running of this country,” the two-time Kampala Central MP added.

People power movement activists led by Democratic party’s (DP) Sam Lubega Mukaaku have warned the Uganda police and other security operatives not to interrupt their program of welcoming their leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine who is returning from the United States.

Addressing the press today at Speke road in Kampala, Lubega said that they have mobilised more than two million Ugandans to raid Entebbe airport at 10:00am to welcome Bobi Wine.

“We don’t expect Uganda police and other security agencies to come in with the aim of interrupting us. They are already aware that Bobi is coming back. We are all going to be dressed in red attires to show solidarity for our hounarable, we call upon Ugandans to come in big numbers and like Bobi wine always states,”twebelelemu” because this is the only way to go,” Lubega said.

Mike Mabike, who is leading the security team that is going to welcome Bobi Wine disclosed that Bobi’s return concerns everybody whether in the NRM or in the opposition.

Mabike added that special prayers will be held at Wampewo at around 4pm to thank God for successfully taking Bobi Wine through treatment, they will also pray for Mityana municipality MP Zaake Butebi and others who were injured during the Arua Municipality fracas.

He further revealed that US doctors have given Bobi Wine the green  light to resume work and also advised him to finish his medication here in Uganda. Bobi Wine will address the nation on his international journey on Thursday.

Mabike and group warned that they are ready to peacefully stop some people who plan to disorganise Bobi’s return by dressing like them with the aim of turnishing his name.

Police and other security organs have vowed not to allow any procession on Entebbe road during Bobi’s return. They have promised to drive Bobi Wine from Entebbe airport to his final destination.

“Whenever there are riots, it’s innocent Ugandans who are going about their business that suffer. Non of the organisers of these riots suffer, neither do they lose any of their belongings. we won’t allow this to happen. Let Bobi wine come back and follow the security rules as other Ugandans,” Uganda police spokesperson Emilian Kayima warned.

Government Is Ready To Protect Bobi Wine On His Return – Ofwono Opondo

Published

on

Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo has assured Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu that government is ready to protect him during his return.

Hon. Kyagulanyi is set to touch base on Ugandan soil on Thursday this week. When asked about Bobi Wine’s return and what government plans to do on that day, OO quickly replied that, “Hon. Kyagulanyi is a citizen of Uganda and a member of parliament who is free to return home, and him being a member of parliament, he can use the VIP or common route at Entebbe.”

Ofwono added that government is ready to offer him protection as MP upon arrival from the airport up to his home. He promised that there won’t be any big scuffle apart from the usual airport security that keeps law and order because the airport is used by a number of people who also need directions and protection from the government.

He further urged the public to stay calm and avoid engaging in unlawful acts on that day. There are rumours circulating on social media platforms that some youth are planning to welcome the People Power boss with pomp. The reports also suggest that those who intend to welcome Bobi wine want to escort him from the airport to his home something that governemnt says will jopardise security.

Bobi Wine supporters have also warned the general public that some elements in government have printed People Power t-shirts and flyers with the intention of causing havoc to soil the legislator’s name.

“It’s a democratic right for anyone to welcome back their be-loved ones. However, we have got a tip that some people were printing Kyagulanyi T-shirt with an intention of joining the group that will be welcoming him to cause havoc, this is contrary to Kyagulanyi ideas and way of doing things,” Bobi Wine’s brother chairman Nyanzi cautioned.

Hon. Kyagulanyi has been in the US receiving treatment after allegedly being tortured by security operatives during his arrest in Arua ahead of the area by-election that saw Hon. Kasiano Wadri elected to replace the former representative, Ibrahim Abiriga who was killed in cold blood.
