Why Moze Radio’s Birthday Is Still Celebrated After His Death; He Built A Legacy That Would Live On After He Stopped Breathing.

    Published

    on

On the 25th day of January in 1985, a Ugandan music legend was born.

Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo, also commonly known as Mowzey Radio, sometimes simply referred to as Radio, was a Ugandan musician with a distinctive art in writing and singing. Blessed with extra impressive vocals, he was undoubtedly the main performer of the Ugandan formidable music group Goodlyfe Crew together with Jose Chameleone’s younger brother Weasel.

Radio would be celebrating his 36th birthday today, but the man who gave Ugandan music so much life now lays lifeless at Nakawuka in Wakiso District, 6 feet under.

Days after his 33rd birthday, the microphone magician was pronounced dead on the 1st of February in 2018 at Case Clinic in Kampala, Uganda, from a blood clot in his brain sustained in a bar brawl in Entebbe a few days earlier.

Radio’s friends, family, relatives and celebrities in Uganda and outside the country still celebrate the lyrical genius’ birth. He clearly only stopped breathing, but still lives within his immortal music.

Radio at the time of his death had up to 250 songs to his name, was a BET award nominee and one of Africa’s best vocalists and undoubtedly among Uganda’s all time best song writers with more than 400 songs written.

While still at Leon Island, Radio released his first solo song, “Sweet Lady” while he was a backup singer with Weasel, behind Jose Chameleone.

After Radio’s career took off, it rose so fast he was himself overwhelmed. In a 2014 interview, Radio referred to his incredible growth rate in music as magic.

Besides his good music, and close family, Weasel is another lasting memory of Radio. He is probably that one person almost everybody thinks about when the name Radio is mentioned

It is now 3 years since the singer last talked to his partner and you can imagine the pain he still goes through each time he wakes up in the morning knowing he has to face the day alone.

    Weasel and Radio performing.

From living under the same roof, sharing clothes, doing the same business and music, Radio and Weasel practically shared everything! They literally breathed the same air on a daily basis. And all Weasel can do now is organize virtual birthday party celebrations for his fallen brother.

Weasel initiated a movement of living in the ‘Radio Moment’ specially dedicated to celebrating the music icons success and contribution in the industry. artistes who join the movement take up the challenge to reminisce their best moment about the fallen music general.

“We Will Always Celebrate You King Moses. +1 Legacy,” Weasel said a few seconds after midnight. Weasel still counts Radio’s years.

Weasel has a highly undeniable love for women and booze, but Weasel exceptionally loved Radio so much he tattooed his name on his chest.

Weasel however backslided after the demise of his friend who became family. Weasel has not been releasing so much music of late, save for a new track where he features another talented artiste in Ykee Benda.

Ykee Benda intimated that Radio was always his inspiration, and he regrets having missed the chance to work with him.

Ykee Benda could only realiZe his dream through Weasel who continues to push the dream he started with his fallen brother Mowzey Radio by releasing more music despite the latter’s absence.

On Radio Man, in metaphorical reference to Radio, Weasel links up with Ykee Benda as they smoothly relay their vocals and lyrics on the song as they urge the radio man to play the song for their lovers.

Ykee Benda regards Mowzey Radio as a ‘gift to the nations’. He did not share really much time with the fallen singer but he admittedly picked so much inspiration from his music.

Some of the senior actors in ebonies

Ebonies actors and actresses have cried out for help claiming that they are sleeping hungry and being chased out of houses for failing to pay rent.

One actor who preferred to remain anonymous revealed to theGrapevine that the Ebonies management has spent close to three months without paying some of them.

“We are tired of sleeping hungry, they are chasing us from houses of Shs.30,000 because we don’t have money to pay yet we keep working and entertaining people,” he said.

She further revealed that on complaining to their boss, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Ebonies, told them to be patient with him because, at the moment, the company doesn’t have money.

“He called us to a meeting where he started telling us how the company doesn’t have money. He told us to give him time to borrow money to pay us.”

When theGrapevine reached out to Mr. Sam Bagenda alias Dr. Bbosa, one of the senior members of Ebonies who has spent many years in the acting industry, he refuted the allegations noting that it is not true that actors and actresses are not paid.

“I already put out my statement on those issues a longtime and like I said, it is false,” he said.

Bbosa added that their business is moving on so well that people are even enjoying the different plays at National Theatre.

“People are just trying to get likes and subscriptions so they create information from nowhere but you should know when you are excelling in a certain field, you always have the negative energy trying to pull you down,” he divulged.

Bbosa furthermore told this website that if one is not strong enough, only that can disorganise the whole progress.

He then insisted that their business is moving on well and no one is complaining.

PICTURES:  Pastor Bujjingo Fills Up Kololo Grounds During Independence Night Prayers; Pr. Kayiwa Asks His Brother Kato Lubwama To Get Saved…

    Published

    on

Thousands of believers flocked Kololo Independence grounds to Pray, Praise and worship the Almighty God.

This was during the Independence Night prayers organised by House of Prayer Ministries International pastor, Aloysious Bujjingo.

Believers from different parts of the country and abroad withstood the rain to worship and pray from Friday 6:00am to Saturday 6:00am.

Independence night prayers are organized every year every year towards independence.

Pr. Bujjingo revealed that just like Uganda was able to get independence in 1962 from the British, he decided to organise these prayers to pray for believers so that they are liberated from whatever is distressing their lives.

The theme for this year’s prayers was ‘Pursue, Overtake and Recover All’, from 1 Samuel 30:8 where King David inquired from God concerning launching an attack on Israel’s enemy, the Amalekites, “Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”

Pr. Bujjingo told believers that through constant prayer, trust and faith in the Almighty God, He will give them victory in anything that they need and pray for including fighting their enemies both seen and unseen just like He did for David.

He further told believers to always depend and rely fully on God for a good life here on earth and also for the inheritance of eternal life.

Believers were seen in deep prayer with some rolling on the floor as they were delivered from demons.

During prayers, Pr. Bujjingo invited his spiritual father, Pr. Simeon Kayiwa, the Vice Chancellor for Kayiwa University who appreciated him so much for saving his brother former Member of Parliament, Kato Lubwama.

Through a song, Pr. Simeon noted that Lubwama loves Pr. Bujjingo so much that he (Lubwama) tried to understand how to pray.

“I know most of you people were not aware that Kato Lubwama is my biological brother and that we share the same mother,” he said.

He added, “I know he is not saved but I believe one day he will because he loves you (Bujjingo) so much. Thank you for loving him too.”

Bujjingo prayed through the rain which started at 2:00pm and stopped at 5;00pm leaving many socked in water but that did not stop them from worshiping and praying to God.

During the night prayers at 11:00pm, Bujjingo introduced his wife, Suzan Makula and the couple excited believers when they danced the “kinyarwanda dance”.

Over 2000 people gave their lives to Jesus Christ.

Where Is My Brother And Cousin Who You Picked From Our Home In A Drone? Former NBS Journalist Tasks UPDF…

    Published

    on

Jornalist Bahati Remmy and UPDF spokesperson Brig. Felix Kulayigye (R)

Former NBS journalist, Remmy Bahati has questioned government over the unlawful arrest and detention of her relatives.

Bahati alleges that her family fell victim to the drone abductions yesterday.

She revealed that armed plain clothed men driving a drone with no plates stormed her 76-year-old father’s house in Fort Portal City under the guise of searching for ‘guns’.

“They didn’t find any (guns) and abducted my brother, cousin and his friend who was visiting. Their whereabouts are unknown. Help me find them,” she added.

The US-based journalist has since pleaded with the defence Spokesperson, Brig. Felix Kulayigye to investigate the matter and help her find her family members.

“My dad has been going from one police station to the other looking for them but no luck. I demand to know the whereabouts of my brother, cousin and friend identified as Abala.”

In response to her cry, Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Spokesperson, Brig. Felix Kulayigye revealed that last evening, the flying squad arrested a one Allan who has been masquerading as a soldier.

“Police flying Squad assisted by other security agencies carried out an operation to apprehend criminals who have been masquerading in military attires, conning people in & around Fort Portal City. On a tip off, one Kanyesige Allan, main suspect, was netted in Semuliki Lodge and Bar with a lady accomplice, Peace Sudai.”

“On brief interrogation, he led the security team to the home of Katungi Kelvin, claiming to be his place of aboard. Katungi Kelvin was also on the wanted list as an associate. He too was apprehended. Two other associates Mugisa lsaaya and Asa ba Abdulatif were also arrested. They are all detained at CPS Fort Portal.” UPDF spokesperson said in a statement.

However, Bahati told the UPDF Spokesperson that none of the people mentioned is a relative to her.

“None of the pictures of the suspects shared by UPDF is related to me. UPDF don’t play games with me. I need to know where my brother is. Period! The unlawful detentions, torture and abductions must stop.”

“Where is my brother Mr. Katungi Kelvin, My cousin Mugume Latif and their friend Identified as Abala who you picked up from home in a drone?” she asked.

UPDF responded to her that, “I did not say they are your relatives, we have shown you those that we arrested from Fort Portal. That’s all.”

This comes after a number of alleged abductions of different opposition supporters in the infamous drones.

National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine recently demanded the release of these victims dead or alive.

He noted, “The Drones Are Back.” These past three weeks, 15 of our people have been abducted by state operatives. Most are still missing. Others were brought to court days or weeks later, limping as a result of grave torture.”
